History was made in Houston. 🖤💛🤍

Black Nurses Week® was officially recognized by the City of Houston with an official proclamation from Mayor John Whitmire and Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas of District F.

It was an honor to stand in City Hall alongside fellow Black nurses Chaunice, Christina, Faydria, and Jessica. Thank you for showing up, representing our profession with excellence, and being part of this historic moment.

What made this day even more meaningful was knowing it reached far beyond City Hall. The proclamation ceremony was livestreamed to more than 2 million viewers, allowing people across the country to witness this recognition of Black nurses.

Houston now joins San Diego and Las Vegas in proclaiming Black Nurses Week®, while Los Angeles previously recognized the movement with a Resolution and Certificate of Recognition. With additional cities pending, the movement continues to grow.

The road to a “National Black Nurses Week” is making moves.

This is Black nursing history in the making.

BaddieCon 2026 🩷

Words can’t describe how amazing it felt to be surrounded by women who truly understand what it’s like to go through breast cancer at a young age.

I was blessed to connect with so many incredible women who understand this journey in a way others simply can’t.
