Why momma? Why are people so mean and hurt me…
Blame me for something I didn’t do?
Why do people try to come to me and get me to do things? Hurtful things, I said no.
They know it’s not right or allowed.
Why do they keep coming back and trying to get me to do it again and again and again?
Why will no one stop them?
I keep trying to stop them, and be nice and kind about it, but they don’t stop. They just keep trying, keep asking, keep demanding.
I don’t understand, it hurts me so bad. I am trying to be nice and protect myself but it’s not working. I don’t want to be mean; I don’t want to hurt others, but just saying no once isn’t working.
Why does no not mean no to others. Why do they keep asking…..Keep trying……?
Because they know I am nice. They know I love them, they know I don’t want to hurt them, so much that I would rather hurt myself than to hurt them…
Its not funny to me, I am not a joke for you to laugh at my expense...
But this is not OK anymore..45 years is long enough…..
I will NOT allow others who refuse to honor my no to hurt me. No means no!
Don’t ask again, don’t tell me your sad story to convince me to change my mind.
Don’t try and guilt me into shame………It will NOT work any longer!
Why will no one stop them?...because that’s my job now
I am sorry younger Melanie, that you felt you could not ask for help, or when you did, no one stopped them for you, when you tried but couldn’t protect yourself…
Why will no one stop them?..because that’s my job now…..Now I can, now I can protect myself and choose to walk away, now I understand that I don’t have to give in to make peace or be a good girl, or kind….
I am taking a stand…first for myself. Why did this take so long? I am working through those whys…….but what I do know is I am taking a stand now..and that is what matters.
My no means no! Stop please, means stop! Just because I am kind and say please does NOT excuse my stop.
And maybe…..just maybe my stand will enable someone else’s stand and break harmful generational cycles of not honoring the no, the stop.
If that is you……..I pray for you. I pray for your inner healing and peace…..and that you will find the help needed to find your voice💜 by @mrsmith1977
