As a life-long advocate for our planet on this Earth day retrospective, some of the highlights of the approximately 1000 days of academics were when I embarked on French and Chilean immersions where I met dignitaries, CEOs and close confidants of my world-famous professors. Another milestone was when the best GAP team became the invaluable connector for our Norwegian GAP client, @cubit.as to successfully break into the U.S. market. This culminated in obtaining my MBA with dual specializations in Global Management and sustainable Leadership with over a 3.5 GPA, while working fulltime.

While studying nights and weekends, I worked during the day to build and expand our global Activision Blizzard sustainability department under the Corporate Social Responsibility function. After publishing 3 annual Sustainability reports, we were recognized in 2024 as being in the top quartile of America’s Greenest Businesses, just before we were acquired by Microsoft and my small team was integrated into the Microsoft Gaming For Sustainability team - where the scale of potential sustainable impact has grown exponentially!

After a year on the team, this Earth day, it’s incredibly fulfilling to know how great of a sustainable impact our small team is facilitating across the Xbox ecosystem potential of over 3 billion players!

I could not have imagined what the last 5 years have brought. With profound gratitude, I’m excited to continue working towards building a better world!🌎

I used to wish every day was Earth day. Thankfully, I’ve been able to make this dream, my reality.

Reflecting back, this Earth Day, these last 5 years have been academically, personally and professionally transformative. Stephen Colbert & Mother Earth were early influencers back then!

After decades of working on feature and short films around the globe, I couldn’t find the right time to embark on my higher education aspirations until the Spring of 2020 brought along its voluntary lockdown. An opportunity arose. This was the ideal moment to apply and enroll in the @uclaanderson School of Management (remote/hybrid) fully-employed MBA program. With nearly a 20 year gap between undergrad and grad school, the rigorous coursework mandated that I had to take each day, test, essay and course one at a time to avoid facing the monumental feat of this esteemed program in its entirety… by @mrspontethomas

We are deeply saddened to share the news of Caroline Ann Ponte’s departure from this earth on December 23rd. Carol’s passing occurred in her home suddenly, unexpectedly, and she passed painlessly. We are grateful that she didn’t suffer.

Carol was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother to her adoring family, and her absence is deeply and profoundly felt by all who loved her. During the course of her 46 year loving marriage to Paul, she lived a full and happy life. One of her proudest accomplishments was helping her four daughters grow to become successful women and marry wonderful young men whom she loved as her own. This last year, 2024, marked the final marriage of the youngest, Michelle, in July. A family vacation over Thanksgiving to a resort in Loreto, Mexico, was another high point. She said that 2024 was a joyful year for her and she was looking forward to making more wonderful memories in 2025.

Now our family has gathered to support each other, shed tears and share fond memories, of which there are many. While nothing can replace Carol’s beautiful presence and spirit, the support of our family and friends has provided comfort and solace.

To those of you who have already sent condolences, we appreciate it very much. We are proceeding carefully and thoughtfully to make final arrangements. As we arrive at our final plans, we will provide updated information. Thank you.

Rewinding back to early 2021 when we were both in lockdown, working remotely in our home offices during the day and in school at night and weekends, we made the great decision to hire my incredibly talented friend, @blakedesigngroup to help the redesign of our brown and green kitchen into our dream petite Parisian cafe.

Both Angela and Shannon digitally created the plans while I chose the finishing gold touches. Aside from removing a window and converting a bar into cabinetry, Angela expertly produced the crown jewel of the space, the ‘Press for Champagne’ button that illuminates our champagne refrigerator and glassware.

As Francophiles, and long admirers of Paris, after the completion of the remodel, and with the new addition of an Eiffel Tower painting, and 2 vintage Parisian maps, we could not be more pleased with the heart of our home. .

For those who enjoy hearing about how fortuitous moments can end up having a profound impact on your life, I’m sharing this story.

A serendipitous connection was made back in September, when I had a quick trip to attend the Annual CalFire Fire Chiefs Summit in Sacramento, CA.

I was walking the vendor floor of the conference as an Industry Analyst when a desk that featured a delightfully crafty map of California, amongst a sea of massive red fire trucks caught my eye. I connected with the pleasant Office Managers of the Pismo Beach Fire Department for a few brief moments before I headed onward to my overseas trip to Norway to meet up with my @uclaanderson #globalaccessprogram team and our Norwegian clients, @cubit.as. Their flagship product is a best-in-class SAS fire inspection app to increase efficiencies for fire departments.

When we presented our clients with our recommended business plan back in December, part of our 3-pronged U.S. market entry strategy included connecting directly with fire departments who do not currently use fire inspection software (and still use pen and paper.)

Fast forward to earlier this month, when @cubit.as became the first Norwegian company to partner with UCLA and successfully enter the U.S. market, via the Pismo Beach Fire Department!

Reflecting back on ‘22, one of my most delightful, tiring, and fulfilling years to date, I feel the need to document some of the absolutely unforgettable moments… like the days spent with classmates and great friends meeting the business leaders of France, along the chic streets of Paris. We marveled at the architecture, learned about the local economy and I spent an entire day at the original Chanel store. I also collected 5 Michelin stars on local delicacies.
