This was Steve laying it out plainly.

No spin. No paywall. No “wait until later.”

He’s building something simple because the system isn’t working.

A no-cost website.
Free articles.
Clear explanations.
Practical guidance for autistic people and families who are stuck waiting.

Because right now, the numbers are brutal.

Hundreds of thousands of people waiting for a diagnosis.
Most waiting well beyond the legal timeframe.
An average wait that stretches into years, not months.

And every day that passes, the list gets longer.
Not because more resources are being added — but because demand keeps rising and support isn’t keeping up.

Steve’s point was straightforward:
learning shouldn’t be locked behind money.

If families are waiting months or years for help, they should at least be able to access clear, reliable information while they wait — without having to pay for it.

That’s why this matters.
Not as a brand.
Not as a product.

But as a gap being filled because it shouldn’t exist in the first place.

When the system moves slowly, people step in and build what’s missing.

And sometimes, that’s where real change actually starts.

This was one of those moments that stays with you.

Steve was talking about presume competence. About reading everything he could, breaking it down into something accessible, and sharing it so other parents could find it too. Articles. A Facebook group. Five-minute reads that could genuinely change how someone sees their child.

And the response has been overwhelming.

Parents commenting. Sharing. Passing it on. Finding hope. Finding practitioners. Realising that something is possible.

Because when you see autistic non-speakers communicate using letter boards, it changes everything. It opens the world up. It’s genuinely jaw-dropping.

The hard part is knowing how limited access still is. In the UK, there are only a small number of practitioners. Far fewer than the families who need them. And that gap is felt deeply.

There was a moment where the emotion came through. Trying not to cry while explaining the difference between where we are now, and what could be. Imagining the conversations that could happen if we truly believed in what these children already know.

Because every child is already there. At their age. With thoughts, opinions, feelings, humour, intelligence.

Sometimes the missing piece isn’t ability.
It’s belief.

Presume competence.
Lead with love.
And be ready for the wow moments.
