There’s a lot more to me than a diagnosis.

I’m a wife, mom of four, friend, founder of @vranicure advocate, speaker, author… and yes, someone living with stage IV metastatic breast cancer.

This little corner of the internet is where all of those things collide. Sometimes you’ll find hope. Sometimes hard truths. Sometimes fundraising, family, laughter, or a little sarcasm.

If you choose to follow along, you’re helping me do more than grow a social media account. You’re helping me share the reality of metastatic breast cancer, raise awareness, and ultimately raise more money for the lifesaving research that gives people like me more time.

Vote like your life depends on it. Because mine sure does.

I wish that were just a catchy phrase.

But when you’re living with stage IV cancer, you understand just how much the decisions made by people you’ll likely never meet can impact whether you get to keep living.

Cancer doesn’t care who you voted for. It doesn’t care about your political affiliation, your income, or what you believe.

And neither should our commitment to finding a cure.

I am alive today because of research. Because of treatments that didn’t exist for women who came before me. Because someone, somewhere, believed that investing in science and medicine was worth it.

And I am counting on that investment continuing.

I’m counting on access to the medications that keep my cancer from progressing. I’m counting on researchers having the resources to discover what comes next. I’m counting on a healthcare system that recognizes that people living with incurable diseases deserve every opportunity to keep living.

Not as a Democrat.
Not as a Republican.

As a mom. A wife. A daughter. A friend.

As someone who desperately wants more time.

I’m not here to tell you who deserves your vote. That’s your decision.

I’m simply asking you to remember that behind every policy, every budget, and every decision are real people whose futures hang in the balance.

Please vote. And when you do, remember that someone’s tomorrow may depend on the choices we make today.

To every woman who has heard the words “you have breast cancer,” endured treatment, faced unimaginable fear, and come out on the other side — we celebrate you. Your story matters. Your survival matters. And we are grateful for every reason you have to celebrate. 💗

But we cannot let the stories of survival become the end of the conversation.

Because for too many women, the story isn’t over.

Breast cancer comes back. Sometimes years, even decades, after treatment ends. And for some of us, it has already spread by the time we’re diagnosed.

These are the stories that need a bigger spotlight. The women still in treatment. The women running out of options. The women whose lives have been cut devastatingly short.

Celebrating survival and demanding a cure are not competing messages. They belong together.

This October has been extraordinary. We’ve reached people, raised awareness, funded research, and witnessed incredible generosity. I am deeply grateful for every person who has shown up.

But tomorrow, the pink ribbons come down. The campaigns end. The world moves on.

Metastatic breast cancer doesn’t.

So celebrate the survivors. Honor the women we’ve lost. Stand beside those of us still living with this disease.

And please, don’t stop caring when October ends.

Awareness brought us together. Research will move us forward.

We have so much to celebrate. But we are not done.

Not until every woman has the chance to grow old.

Not until there are fewer families grieving.

Not until it’s cured. 💗💚

I believe in the women who participated in clinical trials and helped move science forward, even when those treatments couldn’t save them. And I believe in the extraordinary things that happen when a community comes together.

Some nights are more than an event. Some nights stay with you long after the lights go down. ❤️

The Gala is one of those nights.

It is emotional. It is powerful. It is incredibly moving. It is a room filled with hope, heartbreak, inspiration, and an unwavering belief that we can change the future of breast cancer.

You will hear stories that move you to tears. You will witness extraordinary strength. You will laugh, celebrate, and be reminded just how precious life is.

And most importantly, you will be part of something that has the power to save women’s lives.

Here is the truth we cannot afford to ignore:

We will never cure breast cancer if we do not fund research for stage IV metastatic breast cancer.

When breast cancer spreads to other parts of the body, it becomes incurable. It is the stage of this disease that takes lives. And until we find ways to stop it, women will continue to die.

That is why this night matters so much.

Every ticket purchased. Every table filled. Every dollar raised. It all moves us closer to the breakthroughs that women living with metastatic breast cancer are desperately waiting for.

Sometimes, Christmas can’t wait. ❤️🎄

Today, we brought Christmas to Kristina.

Not because the calendar said it was time, but because time is something we simply cannot take for granted.

While there are so many things about this disease that we cannot change, today we decided to focus on something we could.

We could bring the magic. We could bring the joy. We could bring Christmas.

While Kristina was at treatment this morning, an incredible group of people came together to transform her home into a Christmas wonderland. Every decoration, every light, every little detail was placed with so much love.

And then came the moments no-one will forget.

Watching Kristina see it for the first time. Watching her children come home to discover that Christmas had arrived early. Watching a family experience a little bit of magic in the middle of something unimaginably heartbreaking.

There was so much joy today hand in hand with sadness. Because sometimes the most beautiful moments are also the ones that remind us just how unfair life can be.

I wish we weren’t doing this.

I wish Kristina had a thousand more Christmas mornings ahead of her. I wish her children never had to know a world where time with their mom was something they had to worry about.

But today, we had Christmas.

We had twinkling lights, beautiful surprises, happy tears, and memories that I hope will be held close for a lifetime.

To every single person who helped make this happen, thank you. You gave this family something that cannot be wrapped in a box.

And to Kristina, we hope you felt every ounce of the love that surrounds you. Because there is so, so much of it.

Coop. Being a mom is the joy of my life. Being YOUR mom, makes my heart swell with pride. You have been cool, calm and steady from the moment we first met. You are the most hard-working, determined, trustworthy human. I am thankful, Parker, Drew and Peyton have you leading the way. The only thing I wish I could change would be to tell myself as a young mom to try to worry less, the long nights, the questions of what to do with a newborn, all@of that is a blink of an eye. Seventeen years has gone so fast. I wish I could go back and spend time with little Coopie. You are such an incredible young man, I can’t believe how lucky I am to be your mom. by @mrsvranicar

Reposting about Parker‘s freshman team football season because after further review, I realized I did not include a really cool highlight.

Parker has always been a big kid, solid, tough as nails with brute force strength. But don’t realize he’s also fast - like really fast. At the beginning of the season, he said he wanted a chance to be running back. I think there was a preconceived notion about him that made it an impossibility, but last night he got to prove all that wrong.

So rewatch this. Watch for the couple plays (including a touchdown!) where he gets to do what he started this season trying to prove he could. super proud of you, Parker. 💜🏈 by @mrsvranicar

Some events are about raising money. Others remind you why the money matters. The Gala is both. ❤️

If you’ve attended this event in years past, (do you spot yourself?!) you know there’s something incredibly special about being in that room.

It’s beautiful, yes. The dresses, the tables, the atmosphere, the celebration. But it’s so much more than a lovely evening.

It’s the stories. The tears. The laughter. The friendships. The moments when you look around the room and realize just how many lives have been touched by metastatic breast cancer.

It’s remembering those we’ve lost, celebrating those who are still here, and holding on to the hope that research is creating for the future.

These photos are from years past, and I hope they give you a little glimpse of what makes this night so meaningful.

On Saturday, November 14, we’ll gather again for The Gala at Mystic Lake Event Center. This year, we’re bringing together the legacies of the Minneapolis Metsquerade and vraniCURE, united by one mission: funding research that will give people living with metastatic breast cancer more time.

And while this cause is deeply personal to me, I promise this isn’t an evening filled only with sadness. It’s an evening filled with joy, connection, celebration, and so much hope.

I’d love to see that room filled with people who believe, as I do, that we can make a difference.
