From an MRU classroom to one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.

Congratulations to MRU alum Daniel Eberhard, founder and CEO of @getkoho, on being named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 for 2026!

Daniel’s entrepreneurial journey began while studying business at Mount Royal, where he founded Kineticor Renewables. He served as Kineticor’s CEO for two years before selling it to Algonquin Power & Utilities.

He went on to found KOHO in 2014 to make financial products more accessible and affordable for Canadians. Today, he’s being recognized among some of the country’s leading young innovators, entrepreneurs and changemakers.

Congratulations, Daniel! by @mrualumni

One phone call changed everything. 📞

Kyle Walker thought his final game at Mount Royal might be the end of his hockey career. Instead, a grocery-store phone call sent him from Pennsylvania to the AHL, where he made his Calgary Wranglers debut less than 24 hours after landing in Laval.

Now? He’s at Calgary Flames camp on a PTO.

From captain of the Cougars to chasing his next opportunity, Kyle has stayed focused on one thing: Attack what’s at your feet.

A promise between two entrepreneurs to support one another in the face of disaster was put to the test sooner than either expected.

After Hurricane Helene destroyed @ashevilleteaco’s North Carolina facility in 2024, MRU alum and Calgary-based @sarjesa_tea founder Alexandra (Daignault) Sangster (BA, English ’18) stepped across borders to help.

Within a month, Sarjesa was blending, processing and packaging Asheville Tea Company’s products from Calgary. Nearly two years later, the partnership continues as Asheville Tea Company looks ahead to returning home and opening a new facility in Asheville.

For Alexandra, a 2025 MRU Outstanding Alumni Award recipient, it’s another example of how entrepreneurship, community and collaboration can create lasting impact.
