Odette is a summer halter top with a long I-cord ribbon threaded through the folded twisted-rib neckband and tied into a bow. The body is close-fitting and sized by upper bust so the top sits securely — with instructions to adjust the bust, underarm depth and length to your own measurements, including an optional bust dart. Sizes XXS–5XL (body bust 75–150 cm / 29œ–59 in) · finished bust 70–135 cm. đŸ§¶ Yarn: my sample is knit in Line by @sandnesgarn (worsted; cotton–viscose–linen) on 4 mm needles — about 200–500 g by size. One knot decides the mood — tied at the waist it’s cinched and feminine; at the hip, boxier and more androgynous. 3 tips and a bonus tip to make your knitted ribbing look professional and flawless when you switch colors. 1. Clean color switch: knit 1 round of stockinette in the new color before you start the ribbing, so no bumps of the old color show through the purls. 2. Jogless join: when you work the first stitch of the next round, lift the stitch below it onto your left needle and knit the two together. 3. No flaring: size down your needle by 0.5 mm for the ribbing. Bonus. Tighter look: try combination knitting with an Eastern purl. Always wrap the yarn clockwise. On the first round of ribbing, purl through the front leg as usual; after that, purl through the back leg. Filmed while finishing the Nancy Tee hem. 3 tips to make your knitted sleeves look professional and flawless. 1. Hide the start: begin picking up at the middle of the underarm, where it is least likely to show when worn. 2. Divide the armhole first: use stitch markers to split it into 4 equal sections before you pick up, so the stitches are distributed evenly every time. This works whether or not your pattern gives a pick-up ratio. 3. Avoid sagging: size down the needle when you pick up the sleeve stitches, then switch back to your main needle. 3 tips to learn continental knitting. With any knitting technique, you need three things for it to work smoothly: yarn tension, left-hand positioning and right-hand movement. 1. Get the tension right. Wrap the yarn once around your left hand, then over your index finger, to hold it taut while the needle moves. 2. Keep your stitches close to the tip. Slide a few up the left needle and hold them snugly under your fingers, but not so many that they slip off. 3. Imagine the right needle picking the yarn through the stitch, which is why continental is also called “picking.” Purling works the same way, with one change: bring the yarn to the front, insert the needle purlwise, then use your index finger to wrap the yarn over and down, counterclockwise, before you pull it through. Continental knitting is perfect for knitting in the round for long hours. It keeps the movement in your fingers instead of your arm, so there’s less strain on your arm and shoulders. An easy textured knitting stitch pattern — the seed-pearl block stitch (헌글은 아뤼를 ᄇá…Șᄌᅼ소요 👇) If you can count to 8, you can knit it: single purl "dots" on a stockinette ground, in a 12-row repeat. Worked flat: 1. All WS rows: purl. 2. Row 2 (RS): repeat (k1, p1). 3. Rows 6 and 10 (RS): repeat (k7, p1). 4. Rows 4, 8 and 12 (RS): knit. In the round, the WS rows become plain knit rounds. Make it yours: narrow the repeat to 6 sts over 8 rows, or widen it to 10 sts or more — keep the stitch count even so row 2's (k1, p1) completes. Or work the purl dots in a second color. The one thing to watch: the dots only line up if you know which row of the repeat you're on. Mark row 1. It's the signature stitch of my Nancy Tee. Here is a work in progress that was almost finished, until I decided to frog the whole thing and start over. This is a rare look behind the scenes of my design process. (헌글은 아뤼를 ᄇá…Șᄌᅼ소요 👇) I’ve been dreaming of a cozy, chunky, but feminine knit jacket for when the weather turns chilly. I thought I was happy with the body until I saw the back and realized how flat it looks. I want the jacket to feel less like a cardigan and more like a tailored jacket, so I’m going back to the drawing board: adding back darts and changing the cast-on method and the waist flare. Crochet bind off for a folded hem in knitting. This stretchy, no-sew bind off creates a fine chain for an elegant finish without a tapestry needle. I used it on the cuffs and neckline of the Nancy Tee. How it works: 1. Knit the hem to twice the length you want. 2. Follow the first stitch on the left needle straight down and push the crochet hook into the hole next to it. On a contrast trim, go in right below the trim color. On a single-color hem, a lifeline is a good guide. 3. Bring the hook up into the stitch purl-wise, wrap the yarn, pull it through, and drop the stitch. Pull the hook back to the front. 4. Repeat on the next stitch, then pull the first stitch on the hook through the second. Keep the chain loose and even. 5. Continue around. Close the round through the start of the chain, then fasten off through it once more. The full tutorial is on my YouTube, in English and Korean.
