This seed was planted a year ago. It sprouted in December.
I was eager to see it bloom. But it required patience, endurance to fully cultivate.
Ten months.
Worth it.

Adventurecation.

I don’t often take “vacations.” Because my home is only 143 steps from the Pacific Ocean. I sit in a beach chair to watch palm trees sway more often than I take indoor showers.

When I leave home, it’s usually for adventure. Deeply exploring the unknown. Finding gratitude through discomfort. Visiting the edge, but not dying.

You might call this a Type 2 Vacation.

We pedaled one-hundred-some miles over dirt, sand, lava rock, dust, gravel, hero dirt, mud, horse shit, a lil more sand and a stint of pavement here and there. We ripped down trails so hard that bears ran from US! We drank the tastiest stream water ever. EV-ER! We cursed each other a few times, but laughed more often.

The heaviest single piece of gear I carried was my camera. I’m happy these shots made it worth lugging along.

Shot on CineStill 50D - this is my go-to film. It conveys golden light B-E-A-Utifully!! And the slower film speed allows me to “paint” with my camera.

Paintin’ the town, smiles alllll around!
June has been a month of HUSTLE and I love it.

I used to think that in order to “make it” as an artist, I needed a giant studio space, my work shown in top notch galleries, and invites to international mural festivals year round.
While I still aspire for those things, I have realized…
I DONE BEEN MADE IT!

People invite me to paint my neighborhood. More and more often, I’m given creative freedom! I’m granted opportunities to beautify overlooked spaces, instilling pride in my community. I get to help local businesses express themselves. I get to combine athleticism, philosophy and creativity outside under the sun.

I know it’s not really a big deal, I’m not feeding starving kids or ending any wars. But it feels good - physically joyful - to use my talent in service to those around me. taken in Oceanside, California by @ms.perp

I met Mike because of a wave mural he painted. I used it as the back drop for a photo at a car show. It got reposted and Mike asked if he could get a copy.

This hobby has brought a lot of good people into my life and I appreciate that.

This project was initially intended to refresh part of Mike's webpage but kind of like his art, it "snowballed into this bigger thing". We decided to document the process, shoot some clips around town, and record some narration to tell a story.

We collaborated over the past two months and ended up with a six minute short film called Watercolor.
