Long Post Ahead:

When I started this journey I had a little two year old, only months later did I find out that no only was I pregnant but extremely high risk. From doctor’s appointments to temper tantrums I was juggling a ton. Somehow I had a c-section (and yes I was doing homework in that hospital bed), a preemie, a toddler and was in grad school. Somehow, we still grabbed a 4.0. Thank you to my Z babies, who gave me grace on nights I had homework, who sat with me for class and who cheered me on at graduation.

To my husband, thank you for taking this journey with me. When I said I wanted to get my masters, he was completely on board. The unwavering support from my best friend is unmatched. From making sure I did my homework, to listening to me edit my countless papers, thank you so much for your support. The way we encourage eachother to be our best selves, let eachother grow and take chances, follow our hearts and advance our careers, these are all things that make us so strong as a couple. Thank you, babe.

To those who knew and kept my secret, thank you. I knew when I did this I wanted to go on this journey by myself. I wanted to give myself the grace to go at my own pace, pause if I needed to and experience everything for myself. I show the internet many parts of myself but the journey to the hood was for me.

Three years ago, this little cuddler decided I was worthy of having a son. In these three years, he’s taught me so many things. Zamari is a ball of fire that can give you warmth or scorch your hand. He’s taught me that listening involves more than the ears. Watching him grow and learn has been such a joy. From sentence structure to finding his (very) bossy voice, my baby is a natural born leader. In so many ways, I see myself in him.

Happy Birthday to Z Baby number two. You may be the younger Z baby but you make sure your voice is heard. You’re demanding, kind, and spirited and we love it. You were the last piece to our puzzle. We can’t wait to see what year three brings you. by @ms30smthn

Six years ago, this beautiful soul deemed me worthy of motherhood. In those six years, Zakai has made me so proud of her with everything she does. Watching her grow up is a privilege. Seeing her navigate becoming a leader, finding her voice, her passions has made me appreciate life in a whole new way.

Happy birthday to Z baby number one, the bossiest, sweetest, most talkative little girl ever. You keep our house loud and alive. I can’t wait to see your growth in the 6th year. by @ms30smthn

2025,
These photos don’t begin to encompass how good this year was to my little family. We’ve’ve seen deaths, graduations, Beyonce, kindergarten, new work opportunities, near death experiences and everything in between. Everything that could have broken our spirit, attempted to and yet here we are so excited for what’s to come.

I’d like to think that every year should teach us something. I believe we should come out with some sort of clarity from the last 365 days. Here is mine:
•Growth never stops. You’ll never stop learning and adapting. •Parenthood doesn’t get easier, it simply changes with the years.
•Life doesn’t have to be on constant fast forward, it’s ok to just play on normal speed and take a few breaths through the moments.
•Death won’t stop and sometimes there’s no way to prepare for it. The harshest thing to live with is knowing life continues after death.
•Small steps are still progress. A real artist knows that you can’t see the beauty until you take a step back.
•And most of all remember, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn the light on.

2025, looking back it makes sense that you’re our halfway point of my life as a full on adult. I look at the changes from 2020 and I’m proud of us. Proud of my husband (who will never brag on himself), proud of myself and so proud of my children. I’m even proud of Bambino, it takes a lot to go from only child to two human children running around taking your bones. 2026, as we take this turn on the decade together, be prepared, the second half of the 20’s have nothing on The Willis Way. by @ms30smthn

And just like that we successfully pulled off another Halloween.
1. The closest thing to a family photo we got all week.
2. Our Halloween actually started on last Saturday with a trunk or treat. Zakai made it clear she was a unicorn 🤣
3. Zamari was the cutest spiderman!
4. In all the chaos, Zakai lost her first tooth!
5. Zakai’s school had a Halloween party and parade for the families on Wednesday.
7. On Thursday, the kids’ DENTIST threw a trunk or treat so we had to show up for that too.
8. Thursday night we made their boo packs, complete with matching pajamas and a book for each of them.
9. Zakai wasn’t allowed to wear her costume to school, however they were encouraged to dress as mad scientist since they had a huge pumpkin experiment at school so you know I had to make her an official ID badge.
10. The kiddos ready for their school Halloween activities!
11. Have you ever met such a stylish scientist?
12. I was a tired mama for Halloween, complete with a latte and athleisure wear.
13. Zamari’s school parade. Of course he only had eyes for his daddy
14. Just another family photo that Zamari didn’t want to cooperate in.
15. Zakai had a great school day as a scientist.
16. They learned about the parts of a pumpkin, Zakai came home ready to cut hers open.
17. Since we were exhausted from the trunk or treats, we decided to finish Halloween at a carnival. Zamari enjoyed the simple rides.
18. Zakai loved the view from the top of the Ferris wheel.
19. Zakai loves chaotic rides. I was ready to throw up after this. I’m getting too hold for this.
20. This Halloween brought so much candy home, created so many memories and gave me so much joy. Nothing tops curating a childhood for my Z babies.

Happy Anniversary to my husband. The first day I saw you, I knew you’d be mine and now we’re locked in for life. You are my favorite person, my other half and every year we grow stronger. From raising these gremlins to advancing in our careers and everything in between, I picked the best possible partner on this group project called life. I love you babe. by @ms30smthn
