My brother turns 40 today, and honestly, I still struggle to find words big enough to hold the kind of man he is.
For the first 11 years of my life, it was just the two of us. No noise. No crowd. Just us against the world. We laughed together, fought together, grew together. And heaven help anyone who dared to annoy my baby brother, because I would immediately swoop in like a very small but extremely loud bodyguard 😭. I had no physical strength, but my mouth? Sharper than a two-edged sword.

So sharp that whenever my parents were scolding him and I jumped in to defend him, they’d sigh and ask, “Are you his mouthpiece?”And yes. Yes, I was.
Everyone thinks their brother is the best, but mine truly is.

Many year's ago, when I got an internship at a law firm in Lagos Island, my brother showed me love in action. He would wake up at 5am, drive me from Gbagada to the Island, go back home, head to his own job on the mainland, then return to the Island by 6pm to pick me up. He did this every single day for six months. No complaints. No drama. Just quiet, sacrificial love. All so I wouldn’t have to enter public transport. That is who he is. Love in action.

My brother is kind. He loves God. He is calm when everyone else is panicking. He is the voice of reason in our family. He is centred under pressure. He can lose everything and still sit in peace. He is everyone’s favourite, and effortlessly so.

I love him so deeply that when he relocated to England and I couldn’t cope with the distance… I relocated too 😄 (I am abit dramatic).

As a husband and a father, he is incomparable. Steady. Loving. Present. Selfless. Thoughtful. There is truly nobody like Ugochukwu. Knowing him is an honour. Being his sister is a privilege.

Happy 40th birthday, Bobo. God will never stop blessing you.

As we mark another decade and timelines fill with memories from 2016, my heart is especially grateful for the friendships that survived time, seasons, and truth. In a world that has grown increasingly cold, nonchalant, and betrayal often comes from those closest to us, longevity in friendship is no small miracle.

My Bedi @gogo_okolo and I even had a cheeky friendship renewal in December. It looked like fun and games, but truly… na we know wetin our eyes don see 😆. Ten years of choosing each other, showing up, forgiving, growing, and staying.

This Christmas, she drove me everywhere without complaint, without counting the cost, and in those quiet, ordinary moments, love spoke the loudest. I’m deeply grateful for her presence in my life.

I look forward to doing this with the rest of my friends, honouring the ones who stayed. May life be kind to you, as you become the version of yourself you are striving toward.

30 looks so beautiful on you!

Being your big sister for the last 30 years has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I’ve watched you grow from my baby into a woman of God, grace, depth, and so much thoughtfulness. You have the softest heart, the kind that loves intentionally and shows up quietly but powerfully.

You are wise beyond your years (you would never know there is an 11 year gap between us 😊), kind without trying,very respectful (all my friends adore her), warm, fiercely protective and loyal to the ones you love (don't ever offend me, because she will end you 🤭) and a blessing to everyone lucky enough to know you, especially me. Thank you for being my sister, my friend, my safe place, and my joy. I love you more than words will ever capture.
