Summer an Ode:

Salty drinks served with limes and laughter, lots.
Scratchy voices singing karaoke.
A lighter load, a brighter smile and a reminder to cherish each day.
You are lemonade stands, fireflies and mosquito bites.

You are all the things that revive us after a chaotic spring, and your memories are what sustain us all year long.

Today marks the end of an incredible chapter and the beginning of a new one. My baby is officially headed to middle school!!

Sebastian not only graduated elementary school, but he had the honor of serving as the MC for the promotion ceremony. Watching him stand confidently in front of his classmates, teachers, and families made me so proud I could hardly hold back the tears.

This journey hasn’t always been easy. Sebastian completed kindergarten during the pandemic, learning through one of the most challenging times our children have ever faced. Since then, he has continued to grow into a kind, resilient, intelligent, and confident young man.

Over the years, I’ve watched him become a class president, a leader among his peers, an athlete, a musician, and someone who isn’t afraid to use his voice. Through every challenge, he has continued to rise.

Sebastian, I am so proud of all that you’ve accomplished and even more proud of the person you are becoming. Keep being yourself, keep working hard, and never stop believing in what you can achieve.

Middle school, here he comes! ❤️🎓

I’ve typed and deleted this five times in the last two days because it doesn’t feel right to say that I’ll have to miss you forever 💔. Lene even today I just can’t seem to gather the words to say everything but I love you and I’m so thankful we never hesitated to express that. Often times we would fight for the last word because if it’s one thing for certain we are BOTH ALWAYS RIGHT. I laugh because we spent the last few years without challenging each other but instead agreeing that we both got it and often reflected on times where I thought I was grown and you reassured me that you were the ADULT . You would say “I love you Nugget because you have no problem saying what’s on your mind just like me but I will still whoop your ass don’t get it twisted”and for that I Love You. 😂 Lene I can honestly say I’m going to miss randomly facetiming you in the middle of the night to tell you the latest chapter in the book of Le’ naturally it would be something that could definitely wait until a reasonable hour but what would have been the fun in doing that right? Lol … you would get up and listen to my nonsense and say “this is why i love you”. What I would give to hear you say it one more time. Man We have my entire lifetime full of memories and it pains me that that’s all I’ll have forever💔 I don’t have much more to say right now but I remember what you told me and I promise I’ll make it happen 🤞🏾. Sebastian you love out loud, you dance as if the entire world is your audience, your confidence is truly impeccable, you smile and it makes the room stop, you’re encouraging and uplifting. I watched you gather crowds this weekend, take on holding a big snake fearlessly, you taught me how to hold my breath on the scary rides and well IT worked. Son your light is so bright.
