BENEFITS OF INDOOR PLANTS

Many people enjoy living and working in cultivated greenspaces, and many teachers would benefit from having a few
beautiful plants around.

Multiple studies have proven that indoor plants keep you healthier and happier, offering both psychological and physical health benefits.

Check this out.
Plants are great for-
Improving your mood.
Reducing fatigue.
Lowering stress and anxiety.
Improving office performance and focus.
Boosting healing and pain tolerance.

I re-potted a Spathiphyllium and a Phylodendron Xanadu.

The spath, also known as a Peace Lily is a tropical flowering plant in the same family as the antherium. It has long medium green leaves and grows a white bloom. Generally it is grown as a house plant. The spath or closet is know as an air purifier and it helps remove toxic chemicals from the air like formaldehyde. Pretty cool. It’s going in my room.

The Phylodendron Xanadu was developed in the late 1980’s from the Tree Philodendron (P. selloum), and was given the name “Winterbourn”. In Australia it was trademarked as Xanadu and the name has since stuck. It is a consistently tight growing plant with a few pest and disease issues, making it an exceptionally low-maintenance plant. - low maintenance, that’s what I like about this one. It’s going into the bathroom 🤣

Don’t give your student sass back! And don’t try and out clever them or dominate. That’s just not cool. And the power balance is in your favour.
While it might be funny to be sassy, it’s not the best approach Re Teacher/Student relationship building.
We have to be relateable, we don’t necessarily have to be liked but we do have to know how to communicate appropriately and need to model respect.

You have to be the professional- so keep your sass for your colleagues.

Recently we celebrated our first 21st birthday for 2026. Lots of chats and catch ups, some cultural traditions and speeches and delicious food. With sunset colours as the theme, lots of people arrived in pretty summer dresses and outfits with the birthday girl looking stunning in her sparkly party dress. 🎉

The key was sourced from a beautiful business in NZ who specialise in 3D 21st Keys and plaques please check them out @beardycurls
There was an issue with the key arriving here in Australia on time for the party so do you know how @beardycurls problem solved it? They jumped on two planes and hand delivered it us - here on the Mid North Coast. What an incredible gesture. We were all astounded and appreciative, because it’s a beautifully crafted key. 🎉 by @ms_vicissitude

Quick trip to NZ this week for my Uncle’s Family Service in Auckland. Niuean cultural practices involve a Family Service and viewings, prior to the final service for the person whom has passed. This allows as many people as possible the opportunity to pay their last respects, particularly if they know they won’t be able to attend the funeral service. Uncle made several personal and professional achievements in his life including serving in the Vietnam and Korean Wars, and serving as Premier of Niue (1999-2002).
In the previous week, there was a Family Service held in Wellington, NZ which is where he’d settled for the last few years. It was a blessing to be able to spend so much time with family and grieve.

I ended up buying a suitcase and paying for checked luggage on the way back to Australia for all the island 🌺merch shopping for my big kids…lava lavas, flower clips- dresses for the girls and shirts for the boys 😂
