Some you me met during my former life - deep in healthcare, crunching numbers and making sure the US healthcare system worked. Wild times.

Some of you met me when I had just moved back home, in front of the camera via An African city. A defining moment that changed everything.

And some of you found me here after that, traveling the world, sharing my country with global platforms and icons. Learning in real time.

A lot has changed. I knew who I was then but I’m so much clearer now. I want this space to feel like community. A bit more thoughtful, creative and honest. If you’re into that stay with me!

After two years in the making, we can finally share a glimpse of this project.

I’ve had the honor of working with EA and The Sims™ team, through The Pan African Gaming Group (PAGG), to help shape the first ever West African inspired update for The Sims 4.

Being able to bring my passion for telling OUR stories to a global audience through a platform as iconic as The Sims has been a complete dream.

I’m so proud of this huge, dedicated team and the depth of research, cultural care and intention that went into every detail.

Grateful to EA for recognizing the need and executing it with US with such intention and respect

I’ll be speaking at the MTN Gaming Conference tomorrow talking African storytelling, cultural collaboration and my experience working on @ea’s The Sims’ first West African-inspired update.

Looking forward to also learning about the gaming landscape on the continent and how all creatives can be a part of that renaissance.

We know, we know… it’s been a minute since you’ve seen any Good Taste, Bad Behavior around here

While we work on a new season, we’re going Off Script.

We shot these before GTBB was even a thing, in Alima’s then very unfinished studio, patched walls and all. Just the two of us talking about work, building things, the moments that shake you and what keeps us going through the madness.

GTBB: Off Script.

Don’t worry though. More ‘bad behavior’ on the way soon. by @msadjei

A year ago, I got to say yes to something I’d already been told no to.

I applied to ACTV the first time around and wasn’t selected.

So when applications opened again, I remember wondering if I should even try.

I’m so grateful that I did.

The last year has been more than a program. More than a residency. It’s been transformative.

From Mombasa, Kenya to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to my own backyard, Accra, Ghana, it’s been a life changing journey.

I had the privilege of learning from extraordinary creatives who have created, directed, produced, written on some of our fav films and tv shows. Like our FAVS! They poured into us and shared so much. To speak to them and learn from them has been So wild!

But when I think about ACTV...

I think about my people. My peers.

The brainstorming.

The laughter.

The plans.

The support.

The feeling of being surrounded by people who genuinely wanted to see one another win. And being completely inspired by what they have achieved in an environment where getting anything made is a real BATTLE!

Lifelong friendships have been built.

It’s so hard to put a year into one post….

This experience has truly changed my life.

A special thank you to @dorinaamina who single handedly kept this program running seamlessly.

And @beckymuikia for being a quiet yet powerful force!

Here’s to saying yes, even after hearing no.

And here’s to the stories still waiting to be told. ❤️

Long before I became a filmmaker, I knew her name.

The Color Purple was a seminal film for so many of us around the world.

The quotables? Iconic.

But if you were a Ghanaian girl, seeing the name Akosua Busia on that screen meant something even deeper. Here was someone unmistakably Ghanaian by her name, taking up space in one of the most iconic films of all time.

Even before I knew I loved film, I KNEW that meant something.

To talk to her, laugh with her, feel her energy and direct her is truly one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had.

Thank you to our entire crew - our lead @ginacastel, producer extraordinaire @amerleyproductions, dp of life @theadeniyijoseph, one of my favorite creative minds @likarionwainaina, @thehappydirector_ and @geneadu for documenting these beautiful moments.

Thank you, @akosuabusia, for sharing your gifts with the world, for the generosity and vulnerability you shared with all of us this week.

Thank you @dorinaamina and @beckymuikia creating a space where all of this could be possible. ACTV has literally changed us. Will share more on that soon. ❤️ by @msadjei

The best stories aren’t just well researched. They’re well represented.

The people who live it, in the culture, understand it, and thrive in it should always be invited into the creative process when their stories are being told.

When that happens something shifts. The details are richer. Characters feel fuller. The world feels more honest. More true to us.

Truly appreciate @ea and @thesims for working with folks with lived experience in the stories and worlds they create.

It’s such a joy to work alongside the brilliant @ka_lenge . While she brings her perspective from East Africa and I bring mine from West Africa and we’ve been constantly reminded that our continent is as diverse as it is beautiful. There is no single African story. There never has been, never will be. Get into it.

To telling more stories from us, with us, by us. ❤️ by @msadjei
