How many of you listen to podcasts? How many of you have always wondered about the creative masterminds working behind the scenes to shape the arts and entertainment we love and enjoy? How many of you are simply looking for ways to lean into joy, community, inspiration, rest and art? Most people know how much I LOVE the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They’re one of my favorite rock bands of all time, and Flea is easily in my top five bassists ever.So being at the Tiny Desk while Flea shared music from his own project was surreal. Watching him move effortlessly between bass, trumpet (my favorite instrument!), and what felt like spoken-word—all wrapped in his jazz bag—was incredible. Bucket list ✅ Now, I’ve seen Chad and Flea…Anthony is next I just know it. 🖤 by @msalitee

In the late 80s, I was on Cathy Hughes’ ( @iamcathyhughes) morning radio show on WOL-AM 1450.At the time, I was a member of the Howard University Children’s Theatre led by the legendary Kelsey E. Collie—a community that believed deeply in nurturing young artists and creating meaningful opportunities for us to learn, perform, and grow.I didn’t fully understand the significance of that moment. I was just a kid. I had no idea I was sitting across from THE Cathy Hughes.Yesterday, at a leadership intensive hosted by the BOW Institute, I found myself watching her speak again...and all of a sudden I could see the through line between the little girl who once sat across from Cathy Hughes and the woman I’ve become—one who has spent her career working in service of arts, culture, and creative communities. That’s not a coincidence. That’s a through line. It’s a reminder that the experiences that shape us often reveal their meaning years later. The day itself was full of powerful reminders. Ticki Favaroth, MBA challenged us to examine where love can become a leadership blind spot. Dr. Cynthia Pace challenged us to stop procrastinating, find an accountability partner, and get the thing done. The BOW Collective (@the_b.o.w._collective) continues to curate rooms where Black women come to do real business, not perform it.I’m walking into Q3 grounded, and grateful—for the people who invested in me early, the communities that helped shape me, and the opportunity to keep building what comes next. This is what full circle looks like. by @msalitee
