Did y’all know May is National Stroke Month?!?

Neither did I.….

*****DISCLAIMER THIS IS NOT A PITY POST*******
I notice (just my own observation) stroke awareness journey/recovery is not spoken about within the black community until one happens. Young or old it happens. I say all that to say…. It happened to me and I’m going to take y’all with me through this healing journey.

Unbeknownst to me I didn’t recognize …. Correction I IGNORED the signs on April 24, 2023 I was having a stroke and went about my way (I thought I was still drunk and tired from Nonetheless I got the immediate help and the support on April 28, 2023

MY VILLAGE! MY VILLAGE! MY VILLAGE! THEY STEPPED for ya girl THEM MF STEPPED LIKE THEY WAS APART OF THE DIVINE 9 and STOMPED THE YARD DOWN! the absolute hardest thing about me is asking for help! I even cried when I had to ask for help to tie my shoes But when you have the support and love of your village, they don’t want for you to ask for help. To taking me to Doctor’s appointment, taking me to therapy, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, doing my laundry and etc.

I am now in the realization I won’t be the same, but I’m still going to be me. I was so discouraged and depressed because I instantly went into the “WHY ME” especially around my birthday (yes I spent my birthday in the hospital). I had to get over the pity party I threw my self and focus 🧘‍♂️ on the changes I need to make and learn how to listen God and my body.
