On June 20th, PSAA and the Clatskanie Chamber of Commerce celebrated the unveiling of 6 stunning new murals as part of the Clatskanie Mural Festival! Held during the Clatskanie Farmers & Kids Market, the final day featured two mural tours and a well-attended artist talk.

🖌️ Hayden Senter (@chairboy_) painted “Bounty” at Clatskanie Farmer Collective (@clatskaniefarmercollective) and “Refuge” at Turning Point Community Center.

🖌️ Matt Schlosky (@mschlosky) painted “Bird Song” at Checkmate Park and is working on “A Slice of Logging History” at Colvin’s Pub & Grill (@colvinspub), with the background completed by youth volunteers during a Community Painting Day.

🖌️ Julia Alexis Hunkler (@juliaalexis.art) painted “Where the Wild Things Grow” at NW Connection Trading Post (@nwconnectiontradingpost), and gave an artist talk. The mural was such a hit that NW Trading Post printed it on locally-made cookies served to guests, including Clatskanie Mayor Bob Brajcich!

🖌️ Local artists Tracy & Scott MacGregor (@tracyprescott393) unveiled “The Land Remembers And So Do We” also at Clatskanie Farmer Collective.

The Clatskanie Mural Festival is part of PSAA’s rural arts initiative, made possible by grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Roundhouse Foundation, and the Columbia County Cultural Coalition. A huge thank you to the town of Clatskanie and to our incredible resident organizers Jasmine and Kris Lillich, Sierra Trass, and Sarah Johnson for making this all happen. 💙

Next time you’re headed to the Oregon Coast, stop in Clatskanie and check out these amazing murals!

It was a beautiful day in Clatskanie Oregon as we kicked off the first public event of the Clatskanie Mural Festival. Led by Matt Schlosky (@mschlosky), this community painting day included local students who helped paint sections of his mural on the side of Colvin’s Pub & Grill (@colvinspub).

The students did a fantastic job, filling in nearly the entire mural background! Thank you all for coming out. We hope you feel proud of the mural you helped create!

Big thanks to Matt for being such a great teacher and thanks to Clatskanie Middle and High School art teacher Jaime Erwin for helping recruit these budding muralists!

Join us in Clatskanie this Saturday, June 20th, from 10am - 2pm and check out the 6 new murals in town! There will be tours, artist talks & more!

Saturday’s event is part of the Clatskanie Farmer’s Market (@clatskaniefarmercollective).

This festival has been years in the making. The larger mural festival is being supported with grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Roundhouse Foundation, and the Columbia County Cultural Coalition, with assistance from the Clatskanie Chamber of Commerce and local residents.
