I am a middle school educator who knows how amazing our young folks are. Don't believe me? Ask a young person what they care about and then, listen.

Shout out to @tanyaforlausd for bringing me a #BLM shirt from @107thstreetschool! Loved this tee ever since I saw their team rocking them through my screen at @partnershipla’s virtual #SummerInstitute a few weeks back! In exchange I gave her some #figs and #rosemary from the backyard!

And clearly, the sun was shining brightly on us! ☀️ Hard to keep my eyes open! 👀

First day of school for staff was today. (How is summer over already?!? 😳) I’m working this school year to stay balanced and not be sucked into working more because I’m at home. So, after work I decided to put my bike in my car and drive to #SantaMonica for a sunset beach ride with my sister @moniquedeboseartist! The sunset was beautiful and we caught a dope #MalcolmX & #MLK art piece by @demandjusticebyemcays! It was 🔥🔥🔥
•
•
•
Extra bonus: Some fun shots with my nephew who clearly got the bunny ears in! ❤️❤️❤️

Time with my sister and nephews brings me #joy.

These times are hard. I can feel the sadness and tension in my body and I’m working to breathe through it all. #Art also helps me in times like these so I decided to make a flag reminding people to be actively #antiracist. When I finish sewing the letters on I will fly it outside my home as a reminder to myself and others. •
•
•
For all my young folks out there, how are you taking care of yourself during this time? Are you making art? Reading? Writing? Playing sports? Singing? Dancing? Connecting people? Volunteering? Checking in on your loved ones? Sitting in the sun? Meditating? Laughing? Marching? Writing letters? •
•
•
Whatever it is, make sure that you are taking care of you as you work to make our world more #antiracist. Sending ❤️ and hugs to each and every one of you. •
