Friday appreciation for the feral/strays at our office that keep an eye on the place when we’re gone. “It takes a village” to care for strays, but also an ounce of love. If you feel these creatures deserve a chance to live a decent life, try to have them spade or neutered. It’s a service both to the community and to the felines. Many trapped ferals can become someone’s pet, even ones with kittens. A donation to your local spay/neuter shelter goes a long way. ❤️ #spayandneuter #fridayfeels #felinefriends #cats taken in Ginter Park by @mselliott85

Jade, my beautiful cat of 9 years, ran away back on May 14. I looked everywhere I could think of, posted flyers and online. After 51 days outdoors, she was found and turned into my local animal shelter. She was on a daily steroid before going missing. She had severe neurological damage, which we were not confident she would recover from. Jade passed peacefully in my arms yesterday. Although I’m absolutely devastated by these turn of events, I find some solace in the fact that I was able to be there at the end and bring her some comfort while she was back with me. 💔 by @mselliott85

I had to say goodbye to T’Challa last week. It still barely feels real, but I know healing will come, in time. He was only 9 years old, and losing him has been the hardest loss I’ve ever experienced. He curled up in my arm every night, played fetch, and talked to me. He loved climbing my fence and exploring, sometimes a little too far. I never thought I’d miss his whines, but the house is too quiet now without him. Gone far too soon, but he lived a good life, and created a lot of great memories that I will cherish. Love you, buddy. 2/12/2026

It’s official. I’m now the dad of 3 cats 🙃. I was checking my mail last Friday and heard a squealing from the uninhabited house across the street. As I approached the other side of the street, this sweet little kitty stormed out from the shadows and rubbed up on me, squealing as much as her hoarse voice could. She let me pick her up so I took her inside where she ate veraciously. I took her to Henrico Animal Protection the next day to report her found and also posted on Next Door. Well, six days later she is now in my care permanently. Since she came to me on a full moon, the last super moon of the year, I named her Luna. Meet sweet new cat! Couldn’t be happier to be your forever pops. taken in Chamberlayne, Virginia by @mselliott85

Saddleback Caterpillar 🐛 Definitely don’t want to touch this guy as super venomous. The spines can cause instant pain, swelling, and redness that can last a week! Putting him back where I found him… by @mselliott85
