We traveled to Portland this weekend for the 75th celebration of the Oregon Archaeological Society. Bruce was honored as the longest member, joining in 1953. He was photographed with the newest member, Zacheus, one month old! We had lots of wonderful connections with Gary, best man at our wedding, Katherine and hubby Angelo, from UPS Tri Drlta days, and finally my cousin Jean and hubby Lasse from Sweden and her sister Cathy who shuttled us back to the train for our return to Bellingham! Everything went flawlessly! by @msgsatb

25 years ago I was terrified that my son-in-law-to-be was on the train headed to the transfer at the World Trade Center. This is the email that finally came through, when phones were down. by @msgsatb

I have been working twice a week for 6 months with a strength trainer at Prime Sports Institute. There are many of us older folks who are in these personalized programs, and the camaraderie makes it fun to show up each time for the hour sessions. I realized I need to get stronger now that I live alone, but I have always shunned the Taylor steps that total 100. This last week I decided to begin the steps at the WWU Viking Bldg as well as the Taylor steps, 200 total. It’s not pretty, but hopefully I will soon be able to conquer the Taylor ones without stopping. Prime Sports Institute put together a short video of us older folks in our sessions. This is my 60th year on Waldron Island! I have joined Kerry and Erica for a few days of R & R. There is always a project or two, and this summer the roof needs to be replaced on the pump house. This is the first season for the newly built hot tub from the repurposed milk tank that used to be our water tank, high up in the trees with gravity feed. The Chofu wood stove heats it to 107 degrees. This stainless steel tank was made in Chicago in the 1930’s and my parents bought it in Lynden in the mid 80’s. by @msgsatb

Today I had the most wonderful visit from teaching colleague friends Barb and Jim Ruble. Barb, a fellow choral director is very special to me as she spent a couple of months helping me at Central Office when I was in charge of the music program for the Puyallup School district. I was in the throes of treatment for breast cancer and the district was gracious to allow Barb to come and help me in her last 2 months before retirement. Barb is a terrific watercolor artist who often shows her works at a vineyard in Walla Walla. It was the occasion of my 70th birthday when we visited her viewing and purchased this painting of Walla Walla vineyards and the Blue Mountains. Barb & Jim came to visit and share some wine today, and my heart is so very happy tonight! They now live in Gig Harbor where they have a fabulous view of the Narrows Bridge and much boat traffic. They brought these candies from Gig Harbor. 🎶🥰❤️ by @msgsatb

If you REALLY know me, you know that I love to iron! I iron everything that I feel needs ironing: tea towels, sheets, blouses, shirts, pants, cocktail napkins, everyday napkins and dinner napkins, etc! “Serviettes” now that I am Canadian. I don’t just buy any old ironing board cover, I buy one that I will live with for a few years before another one replaces it. I use ironing time to solve problems, dream up adventures, talk with friends, listen to books on tape, watch movies or politics, and pure quiet time. My students from Puyallup High School will recognize the Met Opera poster that hung in the newly renovated choir room, above the sink & coffee pot! I was very excited when this package arrived today. I love the marble pattern. No, I won’t do your ironing, unless you are one of my kids and spouses! Once in a faculty “bonding” retreat we were asked to reveal something no one knows about us. Yep, I replied, “I iron my sheets & pillowcases”. 😂 by @msgsatb
