Coming from Durban and moving to Johannesburg, Vilakazi Street introduced me to a completely different side of the city I’d chosen to call home.
The history is obviously incredible, but what I remember most is the energy. The people. The food. The music. The feeling that there was a story everywhere you looked.
Years later, I still get that feeling when I’m here.
You can live in a city for years and it can still surprise you.
Maybe that’s the Wonderrr in it. 🇿🇦

Ohhhh Melville. 😂
If these streets could talk...
When I first started making Joburg home, this was one of my stomping grounds. Hell’s Kitchen, Pablos... many nights, many laughs and probably a few stories that are better left OFF Instagram. 😂
But that’s what I love about coming back here. A place can instantly take you back to a completely different version of yourself. The younger Msizi, figuring Joburg out, meeting people, making friends and saying yes to pretty much everything.
Life looks a little different these days, but driving through Melville still gives me that same feeling. Some places hold memories. Some places hold evidence. 😂

Rosebank and the Art Mile will always remind me of First Thursdays, but more importantly, this is where my wife and I had our first Joburg date.
So whenever I come back here, I don’t just see the galleries, restaurants and everything that’s happening around Rosebank. I remember us at that particular point in our lives.
We were younger, I was still finding my way around Joburg, and neither of us could have known what life here was going to become.
Now we’re married, we’ve built a home and a family here... and somehow this place is still part of our story.
That’s a pretty good Wonderrr Moment if you ask me. ❤️🎨🚗

This one feels like home. 🐕❤️
Zoo Lake was one of the first places my wife and I brought our dogs for walks when we were building our life in Joburg... and all these years later, we still come back.

Same paths. Same views. Probably slightly slower walks. 😂

Joburg moves FAST, so finding somewhere that forces you to slow down, walk, talk and just be together is probably why I love this place so much.

Some Wonderrr Moments aren’t once-in-a-lifetime moments. They’re the ordinary ones you get to keep doing. 🌿✨

If you know me, you know I LOVE a meeting. 😂☕️
44 Stanley became one of my little Joburg spots. I’ve had so many coffees, meetings, ideas and “let’s make this happen” conversations here over the years.

There’s something about this place that somehow makes a meeting not feel like a meeting.

And when I think about it, some of the conversations I’ve had around these tables have actually played a small part in building the life and career I have in Joburg today.

Everyone’s Journey is different and even though mine is only just beginning, the Journey of Father has been a rollercoaster of a ride and one that has taught me to most about myself. Through the highs and the lows it’s been beautiful.
