24/11/24. 20. Ivo Graham: Grand Design (+ Alex Kealy) @ The Y, Leicester. Ohhh… how I’ve been looking forward to seeing the BIGGEST Swiftie, Ivo’s (KG) latest tour show for MONTHS. 2/10/26. 34. Rhys James: Chop Logic @ Playhouse, Liverpool. ••• A welcome return to the CEO of Dartmouth Solutions and Dara’s new sidekick, Rhys, to the list! Hadn’t seen Rhys since the humbug show in Leicester last year with Ivo. So, I was excited to see him doing his own show this time around! Rhys pretty much tore into everything - poshness (yes, y’know who was mentioned…) and thinking everyone here was posh! (as if!!), A.I. taking over, holiday illness mishaps, being his usual, naughty/cheeky self etc etc… Afterwards, I dashed to the stage door and managed a quick hello with Rhys - he still remembers ol’ grumpy guts (Dad) chatting his brains out about Scotland and Engelbert at his book show (bonus Ivo!) last year. Oh, and saying I should dye my hair green now for Ivo’s Lime obsession! 😂 Tiny camera got another outing, Rhys insisted I took the third photo with me and he had the other doing a daft pose - emoji representation: “👍🏻😌👍🏻” (close enough!!) I think someone in Waterstones must’ve known I was going in today as they had several copies of Ivo’s paperback, but one of Rhys’ - who said he hadn’t seen a PB copy of his own book yet! 😨 Had such a lovely time seeing Rhys again. He was brilliant tonight, go see him if you can as he’s pretty much going everywhere!! Shoutout to his support Hayley Ellis too! 24/9/26. 33. Tom Rosenthal: Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I Am (Round 3!) @ Hot Water Comedy Club, L’pool. ••• A last minute addition and a welcome return to my list, deciding to go and see Tom’s show for a third and final time in town tonight! He shared a video on Monday (with his Jonny plushie!) announcing that his previously sold-out show had been upgraded to a bigger room for Thursday, so I jumped on that chance! Once again, ol’ Pissface was brilliant and nobody batted an eyelid that he’d forgotten a part for his mic stand. He even made chums with a lad in the front row… No spoilers off me again! 😅 Afterwards, before I headed out, I thought I’d go and ask a legend who was clearing out the room where Tom had been if he could come say hello for a min… not long later, I had a lovely catch-up with Tom for a good 5 mins (he even asked me if I’d been to see a certain 🍊 lately! 😂) - I was already buzzing off Hillsy liking my comment about his tour this morning, so chatting to Tom again was the icing on the cake! 😭 If anyone’s heading to Chorley tomorrow for Tom’s show, have fun! Hoping to drag Dad along to see him in a lineup in St Helens (which I forgot to ask Tom about!) in November. I’d previously been hellbent on never going back to Hot Water after an incident there last year, but I think they redeemed themselves tonight and so glad I went in the end! 18/9/26. 32. The Molotovs’ Welcome to Urbia Tour @ Arts Club, L’pool. ••• Had to do these two separate (Insta not liking portrait & landscape again!)… met Matt & Issey from The Molotovs after their show in town tonight! They were so lovely! 😭 Can’t find the CD of their first album at the moment (it’ll probably be staring me in the face in one of the boxes from the move), but remembered I had the tape!! Along with CD and tape for their new single, Urbia (that b-side! 🥹). Grabbed some of the merch beforehand too! The lady on the merch table handed me a few leaflets with the QR code for pre-ordering the new album (not out til April! 😢). 18/9/26. 32. The Molotovs’ Welcome to Urbia Tour @ Arts Club, L’pool. ••• Oh my goodness. Where to begin with everything from this rainy Friday night in town?! Had a brilliant time seeing The Molotovs again, properly this time around! They were Yungblud’s support at the arena down the road earlier in the year and they just blew me away (along with The Warning!), can’t get over how young Matt & Issey are. They played nearly all of their first album, Wasted On Youth along with a LOT of newbies from upcoming second album, Welcome to Urbia (April is ages away!) hence the tour’s name - no spoilers here, but bloody hell! They’re just going to keep on getting bigger and better at this rate. Afterwards, I quickly said hello to Matt & Issey at the merch stand - they were so lovely! (I’ll pop the photo in another post, Insta’s being iffy with image sizes again) Wished them good luck with the rest of the tour and the new album. 12/9/26. 31. Celya AB: We Must Stop Meeting Like This @ Royal Court Studio, L’pool. ••• I’ve got to stop saying things like, “another rare trip to town”, as there’s been a fair few of them recently! Last saw Celya again last week as part of Ivo’s Laughterama lineup in Manchester. The following day, I thought it would’ve been rude to have missed her own show my way! Think I’d always tried to see her while I was in Leicester for LCF, but she clashed with other shows… Celya’s show covered a lot of things; mental health, therapy, growing up in Paris, moving to Britain and her organisation towards going to festivals with her friends when she was younger caught my attention (the laminated spreadsheet idea!!). She was brilliant yet again and absolutely smashing it at the moment. We were her first stop on the tour and mad to think, also her first trip to Liverpool! Soz about the André Rieu fans (Dad’s obsessed with him & was livid he couldn’t go see him while picking me up after)! Celya was also supported by Molly McGuinness, who didn’t have far to go for her second gig of the night at the Playhouse around the corner supporting Sindu Vee. 6/9/26. 30. John Robins w/ Christopher MacArthur-Boyd, Janine Harouni, Harriet Kemsley & Chris McCausland @ Laughterama, Castlefield Bowl, Manc. ••• What an afternoon! Made my return visit to The Bowl in Manc for Round 2 of this year’s Laughterama, bit of déjà vu as 2 years ago my second trip was for John’s lineup too! It flew by… least we didn’t have rain this time. Our host was good ol’ Johnny JR himself, along with his gang of chums: • Christopher MacArthur-Boyd: I was vaguely familiar with him from being on Ivo & Alex’s pod, Gig Pigs, Los Campesinos!’s other no1 fan. He was so good! Being half-Scottish, loved hearing some of his references & Australian ladies, beware! 😅🦖 • Janine Harouni: I’m sure I remember her being on Leg? She’s definitely been on MTW lately though. She was great!! • Harriet Kemsley: as delightfully chaotic as I was expecting her to be! Will someone just go on a date with her please?! • Chris McCausland: can’t believe how long it’s taken me to cross him off my list, despite being yes… one of my own! Again, as brilliant as I thought he’d be! John was a brilliant host, as ever. Someone wanted to do a Cymru Connection with him and he’s all “Elis isn’t here!” 😆 A shit time for finding bizarre jobs from the audience though (prison staff, project managers?, dentists…). Shoutouts to Colin, Glenn & Ben & anyone else who shouted out at John. I had such a lovely time this afternoon, I half regretted not being able to stick around for the evening show (alas, I’d already booked my train). Today was also two years since my first Laughterama visit to see a certain Mr. Graham 🍊🧡 and I can NEVER repeat that story…!! Shoutouts to the OTK leaflet lady as we queued up & to Jaz on the stage gate too (who kept waving at me! 😅). Of course, to Will (who Ivo introduced me to at the Lice at Christmas show nearly 2 years ago at the Albert Hall!) & all the team too. 2/9/26. 29. Ivo w/ Elis James, Celya AB, Fern Brady & Stewart Lee @ Laughterama, Castlefield Bowl, Manc. Despite the low moments which happened tonight, I did have a lovely time being back at The Bowl seeing Ivo & his merry gang of chums. Especially seeing Elis (everyone’s fave Welshman! First time without Robins too) & Fern (Taskmaster Queen!). Ivo was on hosting duties and came onstage in his coat and wearing several football shirts: • Man U, which he said he’d borrowed from a mate. Wasn’t Beckham on the back, but Paul Scholes. • Swindon, of course. Later on in the night, he told us the story of the recent party he threw there when England v Ghana happened. • England. Of course he’s still grumpy it didn’t come home… • Japan. Ivo was born in Tokyo, while he doesn’t have many memories of living there when he was little, he’ll rep his birthplace in a heartbeat! • Nigeria. They weren’t in the WC, but he just wanted to show them a bit of love. During the second half, Ivo got heckled by a passing train! Think he handled it well 😂 We had such a strong lineup tonight! While I sadly didn’t get a catchup with my orangey fave - shoutout to the lady on the gate who tried to find Ivo for me, (I’m gutted & still have his birthday card in my bag… we broke the streak 😭 we go again in Leeds next month!), he did speak to me for a brief second in my usual spot in the front row - the amount of you who DMed me with Laughterama’s story about Ivo because you all noticed me, was adorable! 😭🧡 Afterwards, I had a nightmare getting home - one streak that remained intact, was missing the last train and well… that’s an entirely different story.
