12 years. 3 doctors. Countless times being told it was “normal,” that I was exaggerating, that it was all in my head.

That’s how long I waited — and how hard I had to fight — before someone finally believed me and said the word: endometriosis. 🎗️

At The Down There Affair, I stood on that stage and told the truth, because I know I’m not the only one. So many of us have lived this — the dismissals, the waiting, the gaslighting, the pain we were taught to carry in silence. Especially in our community, where we don’t talk about these things nearly enough.

But we’re changing that. Out loud. 🗣️

This is just part of my story — I’ll be sharing more pieces of my speech over the next few days, and the full video is coming to my YouTube. 💜

A night designed around good music, good drinks, and even better company.

We loved hosting Soul & Spritz, a ticketed experience by @downhomelove that brought the perfect mix of soulful live music, curated cocktails, and laid-back luxury to Soiree.

Guests could settle into the VIP lounge, choose a vinyl that spoke to them, sip on a drink, and let the music set the mood — while our incredible beverage sponsors kept the spritzes flowing. ✨

From the live band to the vinyl lounge, every detail was created to make the night feel less like an event and more like an experience.

I watched salmon swim upstream today and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. 🐟✨

No GPS. No map. No guarantee of what’s on the other side. Just an unshakeable knowing of where they need to go — and the strength to keep moving there, no matter what’s pushing against them.

There have been plenty of times I questioned this. Plenty of times I thought about stopping, about whether this was the right path, about whether going against the grain made any sense at all.

But the salmon don’t stop. And neither do we.
Ms. King’s Kitchen is going upstream. Against the current, against the doubt, against every voice that said maybe you should slow down or play it safe. We’re going on what feels right. We’re going on what we know.

And we know we need to go up. 👑🔥

I’ve been listening to her music since ’90s, so to now be in the same space, meet her AND have the opportunity to cater for her team? Chef Nicole, what is your life?! 😂

These celebrity catering moments are becoming a beautiful part of my journey, and I’m genuinely grateful for every opportunity that continues to come my way.

I don’t talk about this enough. But it’s time to get LOUD. 💜

In 2020, I was officially diagnosed with endometriosis. But my story started long before that diagnosis. For over two years I was sitting in doctors’ offices, advocating for myself, telling anyone who would listen that my pain was out of control and that something was truly wrong. I was dismissed. Brushed off. Told to live with it.

By the time someone finally listened — I was already at Stage 3.

No woman should have to fight that hard just to be heard. And in our community especially, this is not something we talk about. That silence is costing us. 💔
So on September 26th, I’m walking with @thedownthereaffair — and I’m asking you to get loud with me. 👟💜

One week already?! Time flies when you’re still riding the high! 🔥🇯🇲

I cannot believe it has already been one week since I was in the Cultural Demo Tent at @jerkfestivaltoronto — doing exactly what I love most. Teaching, cooking, and sharing the stories behind our most beloved Caribbean dishes with some amazing people. 🍽️✨.

Still on a HIGH and honestly not ready for it to be over! 😩👑
