Donald Trump was already talking about Iran in 1980, decades before he entered politics.
At the time he was a 34-year-old real-estate developer being interviewed on television during the Iran Hostage Crisis.
In that interview, he criticized the U.S. government for allowing Iran to hold American hostages and said the U.S. should have used military force to rescue them.
One of his statements from the interview: “That they hold our hostages is absolutely ridiculous… I think we should have gone in with troops and gotten them out.” In 1979, #Iranianrevolutionaries took over the U.S. embassy in Tehran. 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days. The crisis dominated U.S. politics at the time. by @mslabranche
