My legacy is fighting stereotypes, creating new beauty standards and opportunities for ethnic people in the commercial, print, film & television industry. I pioneered what is now known as "the urban model" . Before 1999 when I started ethnicity models there was no such title #blackhistory #hiphophistory #urbanlegends #pioneer #entrepreneur #lashawnnastanley @foxsoul interview taken in Hip Hop History by @mslashawnna

9 years of New Rules and I somehow never shared any behind-the-scenes from this experience.

At the time I was doing a lot of background work, so this was one of the first big productions where I got to actually perform. Being choreographed by @toogiesaurus and finally getting to use my dance training on a set like this was such a cool moment for me.

Also... can we talk about those giant glasses? I genuinely have no idea why no one told me they were the size of my face. 😂

Fun fact: I got E. coli food poisoning the morning of my callback and ended up in the ER before the audition. Somehow I still made it to the callback and booked it. Looking back, that’s kind of wild.

I also remember having the biggest teenage crush on our director (am I allowed to admit that? 😂) @hscholfield. He was incredibly kind and made everyone feel so comfortable on set.

It was such a fun experience working with such a talented group of dancers. I still think about how good everyone was, and I hope you’re all out there doing amazing things. 🫶

Shoutout to @mslashawnna with @realpeoplecastingworldwide - you guys really did it with this one.

And @dualipa... getting to be part of what became such a huge moment in your career was really special. I’m so proud of everything you’ve built.

We never became homegirls 😂, but I did pick spinach out of your tooth, so I’d say we were at least headed in the right direction.

Beijossss!
