Lots of hands on learning this week! We’ve been building our background knowledge for A Long Walk To Water. First we plotted Sudan on a map using play-doh and today we learned how to filter contaminated water! by @mslodersclass

I’d never taught The Giver before, but now I can’t imagine NOT teaching it!
Yesterday, we had some fun and put on our own Ceremony of 12. Students were assigned a classmate and had to choose which role in the community they were fit for.
We read their descriptions and choices out loud—complete with cheesy music, speeches, certificates, and me wearing my college graduation robe. What a FUN day! #thegiver #teacher #middleschool by @mslodersclass

I am SO impressed with my kids’ projects that wrapped up this past unit!
Students chose a topic or person from the Civil Rights Movement and created their own “museum exhibit” over it. This included an informational essay, a timeline, a creative writing piece, and an artifact of their own creation!
Today we presented and obviously had to celebrate with some hot chocolate. Tomorrow, we analyze Remember the Titans! #teachersofig #ela by @mslodersclass

SO excited about how our ELA projects turned out! Students answered analysis questions over the short story, The Satchel, on twelve different papers. Then, they used them to construct their project! Here’s to all their hard work! by @mslodersclass
