Shout-out to the world famous Comedy & Magic Club in the heart of sun-kissed Hermosa Beach, California. To celebrate their 48th anniversary, all throughout July, they're featuring their signature 20 Hot Comics Showcase. Now, that may sound like a lot of acts but what they're doing is giving us each 5 minutes each and providing instructions to the audience along with a very loud bell to keep the show honest. After all, nobody wants to be 'that guy' who goes over time plus the crowd really gets into it too. So if you've never experienced it, trust me, it's a tiny bit nerve-wracking for the performers but always a whole lotta' fun. There's always a increased sense of urgency to keep things flowing.

Before showtime, I had so much fun hanging with the door-staff while people walked up and and handed me their ID's. Even before the show started, folks came in the door with the best attitudes. They were so ready to have fun! Plus, watching how the staff greets, seats and serves the customers is always cool to me. CMC is the best at how they treat new customers the same way they do their long-time regulars. That alone, speaks volumes about the club and their staff.

And of course, no night is complete without mentioning the multiple hat-wearing woman in front of and behind the scenes, their social media maven and our talent-wrangling, lion-taming Lin. Everything you see on behalf of their pictures and socials is because of her. She makes the comic and the club look so good! Thanks again for another night of running around, meeting new comics, new people and acting like a fool and getting paid for it. Until next time!

I’m just one lucky girl!!

Performing at The Comedy & Magic in Hermosa Beach has been on my dream list for a long time… and last night, it actually happened — all because of 🐐Russell Peters🐐

Thank you, Russell, for putting me on such an incredible lineup with Jason Collings, Johnny C, Ric Diez, AND Bassem Youssef (!!!) What a night!!

And thank you to The Comedy & Magic for such a wonderful experience. I had so much fun performing there, and I really hope I get to come back again soon!!

I met Russell because I “won” a mentorship through @unlockherpotential, and that one opportunity has opened so many doors for me.

One of my dreams was to be on TV, and @sophchangnyc of Unlock Her Potential even made that happen by putting me on CNN!!

Because of Sophia and Unlock Her Potential, I’ve gotten to know so many amazing people, and I truly can’t thank her enough.

I’m in this dreamland because of all the people who helped me get here — the people who believed in me, supported me, inspired me, and gave me a chance.

Thank you, everybody. I’m so grateful. 💛

Celebrating their 47th anniversary, Thursday thru Saturday, all through July, the world famous Comedy & Magic Club is featuring their 20 Hot Comics Showcase. I look forward to doing this event every summer because not only do you get a chance to sharpen your hottest 5 minute set for late-night tv spots, inevitably, I get to see folks that I may not have even seen in person in decades and this past weekend was no exception. In all my years of working that club, I have never had as much fun as I did Saturday. Let's just say between Loni Love, Retha Jones, Memphis Will and that wiry-haired Temu-version, Fredrick Douglas-lookin' ass Maronizo Vance, that greenroom was where the real action. At times, I was literally on my side with tears streaming down my face the way we were all roasting each other. Which, by the way, is something comics, who genuinely know and love one another, are able to do and especially when we're feeling exceptionally ornery. I laughed so hard my face hard as I had to run out onstage. And I know that energy spilled out because of the way the audience received us. It was truly one magical, unforgettable night and with three more weekends to come, you folks can come experience it too.

Oh and if you see a beautiful blur of a woman running throughout the club and amongst the comics, that's their photographer-videographer-social media maven Lin! I have no idea how she manages to wrangle us into some of the best impromptu photo shoots and hilarious videos but usually, the kinds of visuals that capture us at our frantic best. And shout-out to the very talented young lady Mackenzie Lee (@ItsMackMacs) who was gracious enough to have made the comics some fantastic, tasty-treats and she also designed and made the cake for the Comedy & Magic Club's 47th year anniversary! If you're looking for something that's truly out of the ordinary and you wanna' catch a unique night of live standup, come on down throughout July and let the Comedy & Magic Club show you how it's done.
