So happy with how these epaulets finally came out! (Had to google what they were called, I figured it wasn’t ‘outside should pads’ 😆) Faced more than a few hiccups along the way but I like to think that I was resourceful in my problem solving.

I really tried not to buy any additional materials for these so I cut up a very old IKEA draw insert as the base as the material was flexible and strong but still light. The red fabric needed to be covered with red iron on vinyl as the base was absorbing the glue rather than adhering anything to it easily. I figured the vinyl would be better for gluing the rhinestone to as well. The ribbon I purchased to trim them greatly mismatched the fake nails I bought for the claw details so I tested various metallic paints and even a nail polish to better match them before painting and stealing the ribbon trim. The nails were quite unstable with only glue so I used some left over foam clay to create better supports and once dry, painted it to match. I used magnets to attach them and covered them in glorious red rhinestones!

It was a long journey but I’m so happy with how they turned out.

Adding rhinestones to my apple cane took so freaking long!! But I absolutely love how it turned out, super sturdy too, and given how my body has been the past couple of years that is sure to come in handy at my first Supanova!

Going to my first ever con this year! Supanova Brisbane is happening around my birthday so I figured what better way to celebrate! I love a costume party so really it’s perfect 😆

Final prompt for the #letsplaywithpatterns challenge! Theme: favorite holiday/abstract.

My favorite holidays are any where I’m away camping with friends. Sitting around the fire talking and toasting marshmallows, 4 wheel driving on the sand, the sound of the ocean, being surrounded by trees and a few cheeky wines. It’s the best.

Flower love!! For today’s #letsplaywithpatterns prompt (flower love/three colours) I wanted to do something a little quirky. Initially I struggled, inspiration wasn’t there. So I started to free draw flowers and hearts in different positions and then it hit! Flowers IN love! I hope you like it!
