October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. I will always share my experience because there will ALWAYS be someone who NEEDS to see this and hear this. Abuse is not love. If your partner says they’ll kill you, even jokingly, BELIEVE THEM.
You can get out. Don’t wait until it’s too late. RIP to the lives lost at the hands of an abuser. 💐💜

I woke up in the hospital.
Not knowing how or why
All I saw was blood all over me
And then began to cry
The doctor came over
As I got up to leave
Told me to calm down
It felt like I couldn’t breathe
“What happened to you?”
“I fell down some stairs.”
“Have you looked at your face?”
“No.”
“Stairs wouldn’t do that, we know that’s not the case.”
My night was filled with I don’t knows
And please just let me go
“You have a concussion.”
“You need to stay, but we can’t make you though.”
After leaving against doctors orders
I set out trying to find my way home
I left out the fact that
I woke up in the hospital alone
The man I loved beat me
And left me lying in a hall
And I sat and covered for him
“It was just a fall.”
I don’t remember
I wish I could
We were bowling
Everything was all good
We got home
From that point on
My night went black
My mind draws a blank
All I have is his version
And it was my fault
Because I drank
This caused him to punch me repeatedly
His ring imprinted on my face
Pull my hair
Drag me
Then left without a trace
He told me these things when I asked what happened
With no signs of regret
This man in front of me
I had never met
That’s not love
And I still tried to make it work
The more I tried
The more it hurt
I woke up in the hospital.
Alone.
Broken.
But, I knew what I had to do
I say this to say
YOU CAN LEAVE TOO
Abuse is not love
CHOOSE YOU
Choose your life
Before it’s too late
Don’t let the abuse from a person
Decide your fate.

I hate looking at these pictures but it’s a reminder to never settle for less. You can leave. I picked up and moved to another city and I am making it. Get out. You are strong. You are worthy. You got this. Don’t let it go too far. I love you. 💜💜 by @msmikachu
