MSOM Student Ambassador Spotlight

Meet Jose Flores, OMS-II, one of our MSOM Student Ambassadors!

Jose moved to the U.S. from the Philippines in the early 2000s and has called Rockville, Md., home for most of his life. Growing up in an immigrant family where funds were tight, Jose saw firsthand how a lack of insurance, time and resources could make accessing healthcare difficult.

❤️ Those experiences helped shape his passion for becoming a physician and his desire to give back to underserved communities. Jose hopes to help make healthcare more accessible for individuals and families facing challenges similar to those he experienced growing up.

💪 When he’s not studying medicine, Jose stays busy with weightlifting, running and all things Pokémon. 🎮 He’s also a big karaoke enthusiast! 🎤

What does Jose love most about being an MSOM student?

“The people.”

For Jose, some of the most meaningful parts of his MSOM experience have been meeting new friends and becoming part of a welcoming community where he feels supported by both his fellow students and faculty. 🤝

As an MSOM Ambassador, Jose is excited to share that sense of community with prospective students and help them get to know the people and experiences that make MSOM special. 🩺

For Jose, MSOM has become more than a place to learn medicine. It’s a community that has made his journey toward becoming a physician especially fulfilling. 🎓❤️

🌟 The Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine is proud to recognize Samuel Kadavakollu, PhD, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, for his national service with the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME).

🩺 During 2026, Dr. Kadavakollu participated in multiple expert panels to develop the COMAT Nutrition in Patient Care assessment, contributing to curriculum survey reviews and the creation of both preclinical and clinical blueprint content.

📚 Dr. K's involvement reflects MSOM's continued commitment to advancing osteopathic medical education and helping shape high-quality national assessments for future physicians.
