Honored to be invited into this dynamic family of filmmakers by husband and wife team Chris Soriano and @therealhillarysoriano. Played a resident in a nursing home and hospice care center in this tender movie titled #voiceless about the transformative power of music. What does it mean to see yourself on Sesame Street?
In this powerful episode, we’re joined by Kathleen Kim, puppeteer, voice actor, and producer—who brings heart, humor, and history to the screen as Ji-Young, the first Korean American Muppet on Sesame Street.

Kathleen shares the story behind Ji-Young’s creation, the deeper impact of AAPI representation in children’s media, and her personal connection to the character—describing puppeteering as the art of breathing life into someone. From laughter to legacy, this conversation reminds us why representation matters at every age.

Sesame Street’s “See Us Coming Together” special was nominated for two 2022 Emmy Awards, celebrating the power of inclusive storytelling.

Missed it? Or want to feel inspired all over again? https://youtu.be/Tj0Bf8c5_Zw

Making my off-Broadway debut- as a playwright!

I am honored to be one of 25 playwrights chosen from a competitive field of 300 to have their work presented in a New York City theatre festival. Produced by a theatre group called the @PlayGround Experiment, the annual “Faces of America” monologue festival highlights the power of diverse voices. I was thrilled to watch my short monologue, “Crayolas” make its leap to the stage, performed by @kathleenkwan. The Nov. 22 performance will be posted to YouTube and all 25 monologues will be published soon as an anthology. #monologues #newyorktheatre#playwriting by @mssashafoo
