LONG TERM PLAYER DEVELOPMENT 💛

Our MS Soccer Schools Cape Town U12 Academy group has enjoyed an incredible 2026 season!

🏆 League Champions
🏆 League Cup Champions
🏆 De Beers Tournament Champions
🏆 FC Kapstadt Champions
🌍 MSSS World Cup Semi Finalists

Across all five competitions:

⚽️ 47 matches played
✅ 44 wins
🤝 1 draw
❌ 2 losses

🏆 93.6% WIN RATE!

But this story is about far more than trophies!

13 of these boys are registered players in our MSSS programme, with the majority having been with us since the age of 7 or 8.

For close to five years, they have trained consistently, many at least three times a week, following the same development philosophy and structured training methodology.

This is what our programme is built on!

We believe in developing individual players through repetition, consistency and patience. Building technical ability, confidence on the ball, decision making and an understanding of our style of play takes time.

There are no shortcuts in football development. Players develop at different rates, and results won’t always come immediately.

The trophies are not what made this group successful. The years of hard work before the trophies did!

We’re proud of Coach Brent, his Team of Coaches and this group of players, but their journey is still only beginning. There’s so much more to learn and improve on, and the hard work must continue as several of them will certainly be considered to join the U13 squad for 2027 in Gauteng.

For parents considering our programme, and those already on this journey with us, our message is simple:

We are not developing players for one tournament, one season or one result. We are developing footballers!

Trust the process. Keep showing up. Stay consistent. Be patient.

Development is a marathon, not a sprint.

This group is a fantastic example of what can happen when players, parents and coaches commit to one programme and give development the time it deserves.

Our MSSS INTRODUCTORY COACHING COURSE 2026 has come to an end. It is always a huge occasion and responsibility to bring new Coaches into our family as we continue to grow and have an influence on young people around the country. It was a special and energetic week that will be followed up with consistent CPD workshops to continually raise our standards. Thank you to MSFC and our MSSS across Gauteng for your input, help and support. 👆⭐️⭐️👆 #MSSoccerSchools #WherePlayersRise by @mssoccerschools

Soccer Schools born and bred! We are so very proud of Osas, Tumelo, Katlego, Liam and Camden for their selection into the National U16 Team and are off to Germany to represent our country.
All of them came through our program from a very young age and are testament to what our program instills with hard work and commitment. We wish them, the Team and the Coaches the everything of the very best.

‼️Mamelodi Sundowns Soccer Schools have officially started our dedicated FDS/Futsal season‼️

Our 2026 calendar year has been somewhat different to previous years so we all look forward to playing and dedicating time to the version of the game that has enabled us to develop countless high achievers on football fields around the globe.

It is important to note…

⚽️FDS/Futsal and Indoor Soccer are not the same game.
⚽️FDS/Futsal is not played with walls, nets and a conventional football.
⚽️FDS/Futsal balls are smaller, heavier and have less rebound and are made to stay on the ground, therefore every first touch, pass, turn or change of direction has to be exact.
⚽️FIFA officially sanctions Futsal as it’s Indoor discipline, not 5 a side with walls.
⚽️Relying on walls to recover a bad first touch or pass leaves players never having to fix the habit. A Futsal player fixes them with every single touch.
⚽️FDS/Futsal teaches comfort with the ball under pressure, which is the foundation everything else gets built on.
⚽️FDS/Futsal players can’t just boot the ball upfield. They have to produce skills, carry the ball, combine with a teammate or manufacture a creative pass to advance the ball.
⚽️FDS/Futsal trains your thought process. Players have to constantly think about their position, know where the ball and space is, where they can move and rotate, always keeping their heads up, seeing the court and what is happening around them.
⚽️Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta and Pele (Among countless others), all named FDS/Futsal as the foundation of their technique.

YES, we want players to scan, solve problems and make better decisions but what if the decision a player makes is being dictated by what they can actually execute technically.

That is why being able to use all areas of both feet, having a 360 degree directional first touch, a high level range of passing and being able to manipulate the defender are so important and these are created through purposeful repetition through technical activation.

It all comes back to spending many, many hours with the ball, becoming truly confident and comfortable with pressure being introduced and intensified as progress is being made.

This process definitely increases a player’s ability to think faster, have more ideas on the ball, master 1v1 situations and have better spatial awareness.

That is why it is usually easy to spot a MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SOCCER SCHOOL PLAYER!
