Back in 2020, I came up with a pitch for an anthology horror series in my TV writing class at Emerson. The pilot would be about a girl starring in her high school theater production, who was secretly a werewolf killing off her bullies.

I took this idea and expanded it into a feature script called KILLER. The first horror feature script I had ever written. Writing KILLER is how I think I found my identity as a writer. My girlfriend Hannah has often called it my white whale the way I always try to chase the same creative joy I felt when I first wrote that script.

I rewrote and drafted, and slowly begun to expand the world and eventually outlined a trilogy, which is actually insane because no one ever wanted it, except for me.

But yesterday, we just wrapped production on a proof of concept for KILLER (which is exactly the cold open of movie 2). And I cannot express enough how grateful I am for this incredible cast and crew. Seeing this vision brought to life is noting short of a dream come true.

I can’t wait to share more of KILLER very soon. by @mstepfilms

Last night, we had to say goodbye to Samson. From the night we took him home, and he laid on my chest and watched Ratatouille, he’s been my best bud. We were Sammy’s third home, after being given up for aggression and health issues. But we never stopped fighting to give him the best life we possibly could. I never thought I’d be able to confidently say I’ve seen bravery in a cat, but watching him fight cancer since early this year has proved the opposite. He’s been so good and never stopped enjoying life. I know he’s in a better place now, chasing string and making biscuits. I love and miss you so much, little guy ❤️ by @mstepfilms

That’s a WRAP on The Perfect Day! 🥳

3 days of shooting went by in a blur, but I couldn’t have asked for a better cast and crew to have along the way. by @mstepfilms

“THE END”!!!!!!

It’s been a real struggle, committing to writing this year. But on top of shooting/finishing my first short film, I’m happy to say the first draft of Kill That Kid! is officially in the bag.

Now, onto the next one. by @mstepfilms
