Grateful for another trip around the sun. 💜🙏🏾

I know I’ve been a little out of touch lately, but I truly appreciate all the love shown to me this week. Every call, text, meal, celebration, Zelle, Cashapp, message, prayer and birthday wish meant more than you know. I pray God continues to bless me with more purpose, more impact, and more moments that remind me why I keep going. I’m grateful for life, growth, and the people who love me, pray for me, celebrate me and continue to show up for me.

I’m finding peace in loving the parts of me that needed healing and learning to appreciate the journey while I’m still in it. I think that’s why seeing THE BEAT GOES ON in two schools now 🥳means so much to me. What started as something I needed to write as part of my healing has grown into something I now get to share through my mentoring program and curriculum.

I wrote it for people of all ages, but there’s something really special about getting to share it with young people first. 💜🙌🏾📚

There is something incredibly special about knowing The Beat Goes On is now sitting on the shelves of a school.

I didn’t write this book just to tell my story. I wrote it so someone else could find pieces of their own.

Chapter 8

Affirmation:
I choose belief shaped wisdom, not denial.

Takeaway:
Hope becomes sustainable when it’s rooted in self trust.

Mantra:
I allow myself to believe again, without abandoning wisdom.

My cousin’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched. I hope this book becomes part of that legacy for the students who read it. My prayer is that every student who opens these pages discovers the strength, courage, and wisdom that has always been within them.

Because healing doesn’t end with me. It continues with every life this book touches.

What an incredible honor it was to serve as the keynote speaker for the Bronx High School for the Visual Arts Class of 2026.
@bxhsforthevisualarts Thank you for welcoming me with so much love. Sharing this milestone with you was truly a full circle moment, and one I’ll never forget.

To every graduate, thank you for allowing me to pour into you. I hope you always remember that your story matters, your dreams are valid, and you never have to wait until you feel fearless to pursue them.

Do it scared.

I’m cheering for each of you, and I can’t wait to see all that you’ll accomplish.
Remember, no matter where life takes you, keep going.

August brought more birthday celebrations, quality time and reunions! So glad I made it for the cousin link up in New Orleans for @jalabrookss born day. It was an honor to celebrate with you cousin. I love you!! (She’s legal now 🤦🏾‍♀️) Chillin with my brother @junestacks always puts things in perspective . The Ocean Ave Reunion was amazing! @cheflowe & @sassyladie72 I’m so glad I got a chance to see y’all!!! Thank You for threatening me @knocka99 😂 I love you!! The tears of joy and love were healing! I missed strategizing with @stixbones (Iron sharpens Iron). Watching @therealsweethart do her thing makes my heart happy! July was real good to me! More reunions, outings, and celebrations! @hartfordjazz_ghfj to celebrate @stixbones with @mrsdeveter, @therealleahsimone and friends! @chefcharityfaye , @los.jay.angeles coming to NY, family dinner with @jawanjackson , @rickeytripp and the fam! Finally getting to see @taylorsymonej , @itschrisjackson & @cjfrombk sing. Spending time with my family @powellsr.benjamin & @_krissstuum_ . Here it is August is tomorrow and I didn’t show y’all what June was like! This year has been kinda hectic but I’m grateful to be on the other side! So glad that I got a chance to do something’s for the first time like meeting my Aunt and cousins in VA, and chilling with my cousin Keisha! Living & Loving Life to the fullest!!! I thought I was just coming to support my sis @nakia_theproducer—show the short, read a little from @fortheloveofmusiq and pour into the young ladies and women in our community. BUT GOD!!!

When you do it from the heart the reward is completing the task and making sure our people are good. @nakia_theproducer, thank you for always seeing me, thinking of me, and honoring me in such a beautiful way for Women’s Month. You move with purpose and lead with heart, always using your platform to uplift others—especially our children. It means the world to me to be recognized by you and our community. I love you. I appreciate you. And I thank you.

This weekend in the mist of the storm I had a chance to see the LOVE OF MY LIFE! The last time I saw him we were both visiting @jamestashie in Savannah.
