Ironman Ottawa - At a loss for words to describe what Sunday meant to me

I left Hawaii in May after racing the 70.3 with more questions than answers

I doubted my training, questioned the shape I was in, and even found myself asking why I was putting myself through all of this

Having completed two Ironman 70.3 races and a full Ironman, I realized I had started to take for granted the very things that got me to that point

the countless hours of training, the sacrifices, the discipline, and the process that built me along the way

People ask why I choose to race Ironman and often think I’m crazy

The truth is, Sunday wasn’t the reason. The journey is

The months of preparation, the early mornings, the long rides, the runs when no one is watching, the setbacks, the sacrifices, and the constant battle with self-doubt

Race day is simply the celebration of all the work that came before it

So much goes into simply earning the opportunity to stand on that starting line

That’s something I’ll never take for granted

I’m incredibly grateful for this journey, for everyone who supported me along the way, and for the opportunity to compete in a sport that continues to humble, challenge, and inspire me taken in Ironman Canada by @msutera_

140.6 miles later I can finally call myself an IRONMAN. From the highs to the dark moments I constantly reminded myself it’s about the process not the end result. Thank you to everyone who has been my corner throughout the journey. I am truly speechless and still can’t process what occurred on Sunday. taken in IRONMAN USA - South by @msutera_
