Here's why you shouldn't doubt yourself... read on ⬇️

This is a major throwback to being trained in TV Hosting by @markicostello at @nbcuniversal in Los Angeles, California.

@meschidaphilip gave me the heads to apply for the @americanblackfilmfestival TV Hosting programme. I was like naaa, there's no way they'll accept little me from a little Caribbean island.

After overcoming the self-doubt, I slapped on some makeup and a corporate dress and turned on my camera. My bedroom lamp was my lighting and my airtight windows tried hard to keep the sound of the crickets out.

It's of course minutes to the deadline. I submitted my videos and called that George.

Lo and behold, weeks later I was contacted by the ABFF team with the news that I was accepted out of hundreds of applicants across the USA. Helloooooorrrrr 🙌🏾

What fun we had for 3 days in California learning from the best. I'm so grateful for that experience. I feel most at home on camera ❤️

They say a little self-doubt is good to keep us grounded and humble...as long as we're not sabotaging ourselves...what do you think?

Honouring The Mighty Sparrow through movement. 🕊️

Jab in Shape founder Chrislyn Lashington 🇬🇩 teamed up with Chanel 🇬🇾of @freeupcm for a short Bèlè dance tribute to the Calypso King of the World at @iamcaribbeing in Little Caribbean, Brooklyn New York.

We moved to “Jean and Dinah,” one of Sparrow’s most iconic songs that many of us grew up hearing before we fully understood the deeper social commentary behind it.

For Chrislyn, this tribute carries an added personal connection. Sparrow was Grenadian, from the same village as her grandparents, making this moment feel even closer to home.

Through Bèlè, we honour the rhythm, the storytelling, the wit, the complexity and the cultural legacy that Sparrow gave to the Caribbean and the world.

From Grenada to Trinidad to USA, our culture continues to move.

Rest in power, Mighty Sparrow. 🌺 by @msy.chrissy

What a lovely evening at the Caribbean Cultural Diplomats Dinner Experience in New York by @industry360, in partnership with @culturecon. 🌴✨

It felt good to be in a room surrounded by Caribbean excellence. The celebration of Grenada was LOUD. 🇬🇩

@tallpree1, the King of Jab, received an award, @yvettenoelschure gave a beautiful tribute to him, while Ian Charles of @jambalaseegrenada spoke powerfully about the importance of owning our story and his mission to preserve, protect and push Jab Jab culture forward.

It’s funny, I never really thought of myself as a diplomat because I don’t have a green or red passport. But the evening reminded me that so many of us truly are cultural diplomats.

Every time we create cultural experiences, advocate for our culture, or share our traditions and stories beyond our shores, we’re doing the work of cultural diplomacy.

Salute to all the Caribbean Cultural Diplomats doing the work for our culture, for our stories and for our collective legacy. 🖤🙏🏾 taken in Brooklyn Grange by @msy.chrissy

We brought Bèlè to New York! 🇬🇩💃🏾

Beautiful moments from Sweat Fete 2025 at Baisley Pond Park in Queens, NY, where Jab in Shape founder and instructor Chrislyn Lashington shared Grenada's traditional Bèlè dance with the community.

Through rhythm, storytelling and movement, this Afro-Caribbean dance connects us to cultural heritage, to each other, and to our bodies.

This is the heart of Jab in Shape: using Caribbean movement to educate, uplift and connect people across borders.

From Grenada to New York and wherever the diaspora gathers, our culture continues to move.

This is culture in motion. 🌺

Labor Day Photo/Video Dump 🎊

I randomly met people who followed the 1-minute Wining Challenge I do every June on @jabinshape 💃🏾

I bounced up friends, colleagues, and classmates in fetes and literally on the streets 🙌🏾

I celebrated our diverse Caribbean culture and made new friends along the way 🥰

A joyful celebration of movement, Caribbean culture, and community! 💃🏽✨
A huge thank you to @msy.chrissy for leading a wonderful Bèlè dance class for our tenants! Using traditional skirts and the vibrant movements of Bèlè, Chrislyn created an experience that was not only fun and engaging, but also thoughtfully inclusive, making sure tenants with different levels of mobility could participate and enjoy the class.
We’re so grateful to Chrislyn for sharing this beautiful tradition with our community and creating a space where everyone could move, connect, and dance together ❤️

Dear Artistes: Protect and develop your voice!

As a lover of live performances, I don't want to pay my hard-earned money to get sub-par performances where your voice gone or going.

That's like me saying to patrons, pay to come to my dance fitness class and I end up instructing the class from my chair.

I valued seeing the bts in Machel Montano's documentary where he had a herbalist backstage literally whipping up potions to improve his voice during peak performance seasons.

Nothing beats a healthy lifestyle. Invest in your craft.

Okay we can go back to Labor Day vibes now 💃🏾 by @msy.chrissy

Our ancestors left us rhythm, movement and cultural expression as a way to connect, release and feel alive.

To dance is to honour them 💃🏾
