Whistler World Cup Weekend was such a knot of emotions for me😅🥴🥰😩😌🥳

It was so fun to be at an event purely as a spectator, I have dedicated so much of my life to racing and more recently working media at races that it was so surreal being in the crowd with no timeline or performance anxiety.

On top of that this was the first year in 13 years that I did not ride in Whistler at all, and the first year (outside of Covid) since 2017 that I didn’t have a seasons pass🥺 Between getting surgery this summer, working all the time and being in my masters program I just couldn’t find the time to get up to ride😭

I do feel so lucky to have been able to go for such a special weekend with one of my oldest friends @mattgroot27 and my amazing wifey @paytonhrichards 🩷 the support and love I felt over the weekend way outweighed every other feeling that came up🩷 taken in Whistler Mountain Bike Park by @mtbfierek

I can’t believe it’s been two weeks already??

Spark notes on the FFS experience so far:
• The first 3 days was the most pain I have ever experienced
• Opioids are mid the Constipation is insane & the nightmares were whack
• The incisions healed up crazy fast
• The most annoying thing in the whole process is the twice a day nose rinses
• A caretaker the first few days is absolutely essential
• Stockpile shows, podcasts, & movies
• Icepacks are a life saver
• COMFY CLOTHES

Honestly though I thought I would be a swollen, bruised, bandaged monster for a month after but I can’t believe how fast it’s all healing and how good it looks so far?!

And yes. I am chaos building a 1900 piece Lego set rn💀

Apparently the staff at the clinic kept trying to wake me up but I would say “no thank you” and go back to sleep so they had to call in wifey to get me up💁🏻‍♀️ I proceeded to mumble rant my way through how I do not want to take “public transportation” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

@paytonhrichards I love getting to be your little orchid🥹💕 we just made it over the recovery hump (I think) at the 4th day🥹 the last few days have been unbelievably painful and restless but Payton has been the best caregiver and supporter and wife there ever was🥹 she has been making sure my healing is going well, cleaning my stitches, keeping me fed and medicated, holding my hand, and spritzing me like a little orchid💕
