The Story of Optic Man

Volume 40 of Nintendo Power Magazine from 1992 had a contest to design Enemy Robot Masters for Mega Man. I submitted 8 ideas and I only remember two of them. I remember, "Waste Man" because he was my favorite, and I remember "Optic Man" because he was picked. Volume 44 in January 1993 I saw my drawing and was pretty excited. Even though I didn't really like him at the time. I rushed him because it was No. 8 of my drawings. Still awesome anyway. Over the years I've seen videos of people laughing at or praising those drawings. I've seen fan art, and I've even signed some magazines. It's been a cool memory to keep going. I've done a few redesign and updates just for fun. "Waste Man" has changed to, "Flush Man."

Optic Man's attacks are, Eyeball Bombs that follow like heat seekers. (because they can see) and his main Eye can pop out like a Canonball. He then uses his Tail to crank the Eye back in, so that'd when he's vulnerable. After he's defeated, Mega Man gains his weapon, the "Spot Bombs"

Flush Man is a sewer maintenence robot who was designed to clean up dirty water but then reprogrammed by Dr. Wily for Evil. He will suck up clean water with one arm canon, shoot the water into the tank and with his other arm canon, shoot out dirty water blasts. After defeated, Mega Man will obtain the weapon, "Hydro Dart."

(The Flush Man redesign was originally to submit to @Capcom for a New Robot Design Contest for, "Mega Man: Dual Override" but I had to make an X account and I didn't get to show how his one arm extends.. I didn't really do the project correctly so I deleted the X account after only 4 people looked at it 😂 but in a way, I feel like the name from Waste to Flush sounds better, and now he has action features he didn't have before)

I hope you enjoy these updates by @mtc_collects
