Bula! We’re Fiji’s Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation 🇫🇯

POSTS STORIES REELS

The Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation, in partnership with Rosie Travel Academy and Tourism Fiji, delivered a two-day Tour Guide Training in Savusavu, upskilling 40 guides from Vanua Levu & Taveuni. The sessions strengthened storytelling, safety, leadership, and service excellence — ensuring every guide represents Fiji with pride and professionalism.

Guest speaker James Sowane of Tewaka inspired participants to “aim high and be proud of representing your community and your country.”

The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation welcomes the appointment of our Permanent Secretary, Ms Salaseini Daunabuna, as Deputy Chair of the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) Board of Directors.

The SPTO Board approved the appointment at its meeting in Honiara, Solomon Islands, on 20 October 2026. Ms Daunabuna sits on the Board as the Board Director for Fiji.

The Ministry congratulates Ms Daunabuna whose appointment places Fiji in the leadership of the Region's tourism body and recognises her leadership in Pacific tourism.

SPTO also acknowledged Ms Daunabuna and her leadership and understanding of Pacific tourism as the Board takes forward the constitutional reform, the Pacific Tourism Marketing Strategy 2027-2031 and data-driven tourism development across the region.

Congratulations, Ms Daunabuna.

5,600 new rooms are in the pipeline. Each one needs to be built, furnished and supplied. 🏗️🌴

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, opened the FHTA HOTEC 2026 Tradeshow this morning at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa, Wailoaloa.

His message to operators: source from Fiji and our regional neighbours. Goods that travel a shorter distance cut the carbon footprint and keep more visitor spending with our farmers and small suppliers.

The tradeshow also covers the new Tourism Act 2026, with information sessions to help businesses prepare for the national tourism standards.

Head to the exhibition floor, and cheer on the cocktail, cooking and barista finalists on the front lawn. 🍹☕

Vinaka vakalevu to FHTA, our sponsors and every exhibitor.

Ready before the next crisis.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, has opened a two-day workshop in Nadi to test Fiji’s Tourism Risk Management Framework and Crisis Communication Framework and Toolkit.

Government and tourism industry representatives are reviewing how the frameworks will work in practice—from clarifying roles and coordination to strengthening communication during an emergency.

The frameworks also need to reflect the realities of smaller tourism businesses, outer islands and communities.

“We are not here simply to endorse a document. We are here to test it,” Hon. @billgavoka said.

With thanks to the National Disaster Risk Management Office and the @undp_pacific_office #Gov4Res programme for their engagement and support.

From the farmer and fisher to the porter, driver, guide and hotel worker, Fiji’s tourism industry depends on people whose care visitors remember long after they leave.

Digital tools can help them do their work and help our industry grow, but the welcome itself remains human. As Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Hon. Viliame R. Gavoka said at Friday’s event at USP:

“You can adapt and use AI and its related technologies all you want, but you cannot replace the Bula spirit Fiji is known for,”

This World Tourism Day, we thank every artisan, performer, tour operator, airline and airport worker, and every community that shares that spirit with the world.

Happy World Tourism Day! by @mtcafiji

An invitation to arrive. An assurance that you belong. 🇫🇯

Yesterday marked the opening of Fiji’s first internationally accredited Accessible and Inclusive Travel Training Workshop in Nadi, delivered by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.

Accessibility must be considered across the full visitor journey — from booking and air travel, to airports, transfers, accommodation, dining, tours and the journey home.

It is about more than infrastructure. It is about dignity, independence, clear information, thoughtful design and trained people who know how to assist with respect.

Fiji already welcomes the world with a warmth that cannot be manufactured. The task now is to make that welcome dependable for every person, at every stage of the journey.

“Let us make accessibility part of the meaning of Bula: an invitation to arrive, and an assurance that you belong.”
