What are the stories we wish we had the space to tell? What do we want to say? How do we get people to listen?

Strength in Numbers is a multi-artform installation full of stories told by learning disabled and autistic people who are part of Mind the Gap’s community programme.

There are lots of ways to experience the installation, from booking a tour to joining our community celebration day.

We are so excited to share what we have been working on behind the scenes and hope it brings you as much joy as it has us!

The next set of summer sessions were facilitated by @youralrightyouare. All the Feelings was a collection of workshops where people were invited to choose objects and materials to create their own sensory artworks. It’s not often disabled people get so much choice and autonomy so it felt exciting and ambitious.

The sensory environments or objects people created opened up opportunities to discuss sensory profiles, likes and dislikes and explore different ways of making.

The work created in these workshops can be seen in the Strength In Numbers installation coming this November.

The Dancing With Colours team enjoyed two sell out shows at the amazing @polkatheatre, Wimbledon as part of the Big Dreams Festival.

Over summer we had a series of summer sessions where we developed pieces of work which will be part of our installation, Strength In Numbers.

Songs of Resistance kicked off our summer break, working with @maddiemorrismusic. Over three days, the group rewrote and recorded the traditional union song, “We Shall Not Be Moved” and worked with @nomiti to make a huge banner than reflects our new lyrics.

We talked about empowerment, where we find community and what makes us feel safe. Here’s a snippet of the song.

The song, music video and banner will be part of Strenght in Numbers in November and it’s not one to miss!
