Meet the string family! 🎻 The violin, viola, cello, and double bass form the heart of many orchestras. Their rich, expressive sound can carry everything from gentle melodies to dramatic musical moments. Fun fact: The violin is the smallest member of the family, while the double bass is the largest! 🎶 Which string instrument is your favorite? #stringfamily #orchestramusic #midtexassymphony #musicfacts #classicalmusic by @mtsymphony
Fun Fact Friday! 🎵 The conductor doesn't actually make any sound, but they're responsible for guiding the orchestra's tempo, dynamics, and overall interpretation of the music. Think of them as the person helping dozens of musicians breathe and move together as one. 🎻 Have you ever watched a conductor closely during a concert? #funfactfriday #orchestrafacts #midtexassymphony #musiceducation #classicalmusic by @mtsymphony

🎻 Meet Craig Sorgi, Concertmaster of Mid-Texas Symphony. For more than two decades, Craig Sorgi has been an integral part of the Mid-Texas Symphony family. Craig joined the San Antonio Symphony’s First Violin section in 1982 and later served as Acting Assistant Concertmaster before becoming Mid-Texas Symphony’s Concertmaster in 2005. His musical career has also included serving as Concertmaster of the San Antonio Opera and performing extensively as a chamber musician and solo recitalist throughout South Texas. His connection to MTS extends beyond the concert stage. In 2011, Craig founded the Mid-Texas Symphony Chamber Players and served as their Artistic Director, further enriching the musical landscape of our community. And perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of his work is the next generation. Craig has dedicated much of his career to music education, including teaching violin at Trinity University and serving as Director of the Cactus Pear Music Festival’s Young Artist Program. We are proud to have Craig’s artistry, leadership, and passion at the heart of Mid-Texas Symphony. 🎶 #midtexassymphony #meetthemusician #concertmaster #classicalmusic #centraltexasarts by @mtsymphony
If you could learn to play one instrument in the orchestra, which would you choose? 🎶 Violin? Cello? Flute? Trumpet? Percussion? Every instrument brings its own unique voice to the orchestra, and together, they create something greater than any one instrument could create alone. So, we want to know: if you could pick one, what would you choose? 👇 Tell us your instrument of choice in the comments! #midtexassymphony #classicalmusic #orchestramusic #livemusic #musiccommunity by @mtsymphony
