⚖️ USCIS Interview Update — What Happened in Orlando

Today, we attended a marriage-based adjustment of status interview at the Orlando USCIS office. After waiting over 45 minutes, the officer informed us that the interview could not proceed due to a claimed lack of jurisdiction — despite the client having a lawful entry, no criminal history, and no removal proceedings.

After respectfully requesting clarification and escalating the issue, the matter was reviewed by a supervisor and the interview was ultimately allowed to proceed. This prevented the client from missing additional work or paying for a second interview.

Immigration policies are changing daily, and even USCIS officers may not always have clear guidance. Advocacy matters — and it’s okay to ask questions, request explanations, and speak with a supervisor when something doesn’t add up.

Another marriage-based green card interview completed at USCIS Orlando!

Our client is currently in removal proceedings, but there’s an important legal distinction: because he is classified as an arriving alien, USCIS generally retains jurisdiction over his adjustment of status application.

It’s details like these that can make a significant difference in an immigration case.

BREAKING: New questions surrounding Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s citizenship.

According to reporting cited by The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration is examining potential issues involving Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s immigration and citizenship history.

Omar has been a U.S. citizen for decades. Challenging citizenship obtained through naturalization or derivation requires specific legal grounds and substantial evidence.
An investigation does not establish fraud or mean citizenship can automatically be revoked.

🏡🇺🇸 Does buying a home in the United States give you legal residency?

This is one of the questions we get asked all the time!

The answer is NO!

Foreign nationals can purchase and own real estate in the United States, but property ownership does not automatically grant you a visa, legal immigration status, or a Green Card.

Owning property and having legal immigration status are two completely different things.

Real estate can be a great investment, but it’s important to understand the difference between investing in the U.S. and obtaining residency.

The Department of Justice is increasing its focus on potential naturalization fraud, raising questions about when the government can reopen citizenship cases.
U.S. citizenship obtained through naturalization can be challenged if the government establishes qualifying fraud, material misrepresentation, or other legal grounds for denaturalization.
