Today, September 28th, we celebrate the birth of my precious baby sister Jessica, aka Cookie. And while this birthday is the toughest one she’s ever had due to the passing of our glorious mother just over a week ago, it’s my goal to make today as happy as possible for her. Today, September 27th, would’ve been Mom’s 79th birthday. As many of you know she passed away last Saturday 9/16. She was an amazing soul and I am so grateful to have been her son. She was the light of my world, and the compass that always kept me headed on the right path.

She was warm, understanding, and compassionate. Everyone who knew her was blessed to have had her in their life! I’ve read countless messages and comments about how much she meant to everyone. Please help me wish her a happy birthday in the comments and share a story or memory you have. It’s been profoundly amazing to see such an outpouring of love and kindness this past week. The impact her life had on me and everyone else will live on for eternity. Happy birthday, Momma! We love and miss you… ❤️💔 by @mucksticky

Linda Kaye Lowery-Osburn

September 27th, 1947 - September 19th, 2026

Arriving to this world in Sullivan, Indiana, on a cool clear September day in 1947, during her lifetime Linda became a celebrated Painting Artist, Teacher, Singer, Author, Filmmaker, Actor, Model, and Billiard Champion who was beloved by everyone who knew her.

Born to Gresham & Stella Lowery, she is survived by her son Justin (aka Muck), daughter Jessica (aka Cookie), sister Jeannette, brother William, and her kitties Hunny Bun & Sweet Bear.

When she was a child, her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where her father became a well-respected band leader who worked with the likes of Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis & Elvis Presley at Sun Studio.

She attended the Memphis College of Art where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. She sold numerous paintings to wealthy art collectors, and continued to paint until her last days.

After college she was a runway model who traveled extensively and lived in the Bahamas for a short time before returning to Memphis where she got married and raised her two children.

Home-schooling both children through grade school, she was a completely devoted Mother. She taught Art classes to other homeschoolers, helped with homeschool theatrical plays by painting backdrops and props, took them on field trips, and always made sure everyone was safe and happy. She would spend her last dime to give others whatever they needed.

She was always there for every baseball or basketball game & practice, and was always the first to celebrate her children’s joy and wipe their tears when they cried. Nobody could console someone like she could.

After getting divorced in 1991, as a single mother she tended bar before becoming a high school teacher who taught at both Gateway and Elliston Baptist schools in Memphis. She did whatever she had to do to make sure her family survived.
