Wait for Me, Daddy” — “Espérame, papá”.

Wait for Me, Daddy.” The photograph was taken in 1940, when the Canadian Army was preparing to depart for the Second World War. The boy, Warren Bernard, was only five years old and was running after his father, Jack, who was marching with his regiment. The scene was captured by Claude P. Dettloff and went on to become one of the most famous wartime photographs. But there is something the photograph does not tell us: Jack survived and returned home. And that little boy did too. Warren Bernard is 91 years old today. Perhaps that is why the image continues to leave such a strong impression. It does not show a battle or a death. It shows something simpler and harder to ignore: how a war can enter a family’s life in a matter of seconds. by @mucundad

Permanece.
Espera.
Y algún día exige ser mirada.

This work is by Erwin Olaf. It is a piece entitled L’Éveil (The awakening), created in 2016.

From Jung’s perspective, an image is never just an image. It is a psychic event. Some images attract, unsettle, or fascinate us because they awaken something that reason cannot explain.

Dark beauty confronts us with the Shadow: what we hide, repress, or have yet to discover within ourselves.

But the Shadow does not disappear simply because we ignore it.

It remains.
It waits.
And one day, it demands to be seen. by @mucundad
