History came to life last night at the Missouri Theatre as Kinder students Mady Geiler and Ethan Chapman provided historical context on The Star-Spangled Banner and Paul Revere during the Mizzou Wind Ensemble’s premiere of The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere.

Mady and Ethan are part of the Public History ASH Scholars team, where they research the many ways the United States’ 250th anniversary is being commemorated at home and abroad. You can see some of their work on display at the Missouri State Capitol thru May. by @mudemocracy

A summer in DC is more than a study away experience. It’s an opportunity to grow, build meaningful connections, and gain new perspectives on what’s possible for your future.

“You don’t realize how just being in DC will present new opportunities for you, both personally and professionally. Being a DC Scholar is an enriching experience for anyone, regardless of major or career interests.” – Georgia Kuntz

“Not to sound cliche, but this was a life changing experience. Without the Kinder Institute’s support I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. I encourage any student, no matter their major, to apply to this program.” – Landon Ribaudo by @mudemocracy

One destination, two ways to experience Washington, D.C.

Sophomore Henry Birkmeier says the Constitutional Litigation class made his D.C. Spring Break experience even more meaningful, from studying landmark cases to sitting in on arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court.
“The material is engaging and thought-provoking, pushing you to grapple with issues alongside some of the best student minds Mizzou has to offer. Each day of class teaches you to critically examine our judicial system, all while prepping you for an exciting week in DC.”

Ready to make D.C. your classroom? Applications are now open for two study away opportunities:

📍 Kinder Scholars DC Summer Program (applications due Oct. 12)

History comes to life in the Kinder Scholars D.C. Summer Program.

Through the Beltway History & Politics course, students deepen their understanding of constitutional democracy both in and beyond the classroom. For Olivia Hall, a highlight was the program’s weekend trip to Charlottesville: “After spending the prior semester studying the history of James Madison’s political progression in a Kinder class, it was fulfilling to see the real places where the events and ideas I had studied transpired.”

Want to spend your summer in Washington, D.C., studying and exploring the places where history happened?

📅 Applications are due Oct. 12.
