my dad had four of his documentary films featured this year at the 63rd edition of the Golden Prague International Television Festival, one of them about the absolutely wonderful and magical Jaroslav Krček. was a great pleasure and honour!

🌺⛰️ a few stills from my austrian-polish documentary “Góralskie korzenie, wiedeńskie kroki / Goral Roots, Viennese Steps" shot in autumn 2025 as a part of my first semester's examination at @filmakademiewien

the beginning of autumn, despite my excitement for the most poetic time of the year and the start of the university i prayed to get into, was far from easy for me. and as autumn always tends to remind us, “it is a proof that some things must end in order of something new to begin again.”

after finishing my second semester, i was finally able to take enough time for myself to look back. and from the perspective of who i am now, i feel that i truly gave it my all. even though it always feels like i could have given much more.

facing my very first project felt not so daring at first, as it came with super high demands and expectations (ehm the ones i placed on myself) along with the fear of disappointing not even me, but my profs, thanks to whom i was able to even do such a project in the first place.

however, i must admit i feel bliss in how despite all the obstacles, the documentary turned out and matured, for me so beautifully.
it was in a way my first “child” at my dream university, which makes it something incredibly special, even if it was just a part of our first three semesters training.
at the same time, it was my first “big” and somewhat intimidating directing project, which became a beloved doku about a deeply beloved topic of mine: polish folklore, the beauty of polish traditions, and poles in connection with austria (in my case, vienna).

i would like to express my heartfelt dzienki to my wonderful warm protagonists, who allowed me to get so close and without whom this documentary portrait could never have come into existence. i met incredibly kind and beautiful souls who supported my idea despite time pressure and to whom i dedicate this film from the bottom of my heart... the Gasienica family and the Podhalanie Association in Vienna, thanks to whom i had the great fortune of meeting this family in the first place. by @mudrova.ju
