Still fiddling around with Procreate to see how closely I can get to my regular traditional stuff but hopefully learn more to level up my work. This is baby’s first-ever Procreate Erik lol. I’m so surprised how well this program mimics traditional textures. It’s actually insane. It’s also been a great distraction from all the health and medical garbage I’ve been going through lately, and it’s scratching that continual itch I have to always learn and improve!

Bonus points if you know the reference image I used for this! 😉

Still trying to get the hang of Procreate and I had to draw this photo of @madmischief and @foolishcosplay in their beautiful costumes! (Added the Monster for obvious reasons. 😂)

Finally experimenting with Procreate. Still figuring everything out since I do 99% of my art traditionally, but this is so much fun!

Another Portland post! We are in love with this city, the people here, and the nature around it. Silver Falls State Park was so beautiful, I felt like I was dreaming the entire time—thank you for the rec, @bifrostedgalaxy !

We’ll see you again VERY soon, PNW. 😉 This place is something else. 💚

Portland is TOO fun and @rosecitycc is just lovely. Absolutely incredible artists up here—you can tell this city genuinely loves and supports the arts. It’s so refreshing.

Special thanks to my husband for dressing as my emotional support leaf. I ♥️ you @james_bousema

To everyone I ran into at the con: thank you for being SO friendly and as deeply weird about this novel and film as I am, ha!

Also: being that tall rules. Cannot recommend enough. You can see EVERYTHING. For MILES.

Currently reading a biography of Mary Shelley and all I can think is that she and the Creature deserved a gossip/therapy session to talk about their respective terrible dads.

Text:

The Creature: I had supposed, if I could but make him hear, make him listen--

Mary: They never listen. Unless, I think, to glorify their own sense of self, or to ferret out a way that they may use us to do so, My father is much the same.

The Creature: Thine own?

Mary: Yes. Rather like yours.

The Creature: Zounds!

Mary: Tea helps, I've found. And Milton.

The Creature: And Milton. Yes...yes.

"I was not even of the same nature as man. I was more agile than they and could subsist upon coarser diet; I bore the extremes of heat and cold with less injury to my frame; my stature far exceeded theirs. When I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. Was I, then, a monster, a blot upon the earth, from which all men fled and whom all men disowned?"

-Frankenstein, Chapter 13

(To the intrepid commenter on a previous post who demanded to see uncensored versions, I regret I must preserve his modesty to avoid Instagram penalizations and appease the American Puritanical pearl-clutching that governs the algorithm, but if there is a growing demand for the Creature's lightning rod in these figure studies, we can launch a Patre0n specifically for Franken-peen. I can't speak for Mary Shelley but I have a feeling she'd approve.)

More quick sketches of this guy. I've always pictured him having slight ptosis of his left eye, partially inspired by Karloff's, but not sure I ever manage to properly convey that.

Thinking about what these two would get up to in modern day if Elizabeth was somehow also made immortal. (Their bags are full of books).

Erik, based on an old photo of Ralph Fiennes (who would make an excellent Erik, I think.)
