šŸ THROWBACK THURSDAY — THESE BIKES CHANGED MY LIFE.

Ahhhh, the old Harley-Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycles! šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

What a DREAM it was to work on these machines.

These bikes didn’t just shape my career. They helped shape the person and fabricator I’ve become.

When I started at Vance & Hines in January 2014, I knew how to turn a wrench. But a lathe? A milling machine? I couldn’t even tell you how to turn them on.

And TIG welding? Boy, was I GREEN!

I still remember one of my first jobs on a Pro Stock bike. Disassembling wheelie bars and cleaning them with a Scotch-Brite pad.

Nothing glamorous. But that’s where it started.

I learned to pay attention to the smallest details. I stayed late, learned how to machine parts, practiced welding, and soaked up every bit of knowledge I could.

These purpose-built machines taught me something that still influences how I build chassis today.

It’s not JUST about building a fast motorcycle. It’s about engineering something that’s efficient, serviceable, and designed for the people working on it.

When you’re swapping engines between rounds, EVERY SECOND MATTERS!

Eventually, I got called into the office and was asked if I thought I had what it took to build new chassis.

What an opportunity!

If memory serves me correctly, I had the privilege of building eight Harley-Davidson Pro Stock chassis and three Suzuki chassis during my time there.

I’ll forever be grateful for the people who gave me that opportunity.

And you know what?

I’d LOVE to see this platform back on the racetrack.

Alongside Suzuki, Buell, and the other major motorcycle manufacturers.

Because I believe a huge part of the NHRA fan base isn’t just drag racing fans. They’re MOTORCYCLE RIDERS!

They have brands they love, bikes they ride, and manufacturers they stand behind.

So here’s my question…

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø @harleydavidson … WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO BRING THE BAR & SHIELD BACK TO NHRA PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE?

And to everyone who remembers these machines…

It sure would be neat to see Harley-Davidson back on the starting line battling for Wallys? šŸ†

Let’s hear it! šŸ‘‡

WHY NOT YOU?

That was Jim Rohn’s opening question to me this morning.

Why not you?

Why can’t YOU become the creator of your own life?

Not the stories that got lodged in your head when you were young.
Not somebody else’s opinion of what you’re capable of.
Not those old voices that still show up when you start thinking bigger.

I still hear some of them.

The voice telling me my path wasn’t worth taking.

The voice reminding me of standing up to give a speech in middle school and struggling to get through it because reading was hard for me.

The guidance counselor who told me I wasn’t smart enough to take CAD.

The voice that made me feel like I wasn’t even wanted when I came into this world.

For a long time, those voices carried weight.

They don’t get to drive anymore.

Because… why not me?

Why can’t I become a better husband?
A better father?
A better fabricator?
A better businessman?
A better teammate?
A better version of the man I was yesterday?

We are human beings.

We can learn.
We can build.
We can change.
We can become.

And I’ve started realizing something:

When the WHY becomes strong enough, the path gets clearer.

The work still has to be done.
The hard days still come.
But those old voices start getting quieter.

So this morning, when your brain starts waking up and those doubts start talking…

Ask yourself one question:

WHY NOT YOU?

Why shouldn’t you build the life you actually want?

Maybe today is the day you stop letting an old voice make a new decision.

šŸ‘‡ What’s something you’ve been telling yourself you ā€œcan’tā€ do?

Nothing but smiles. šŸ˜ŽšŸ

Because this right here is what racing is supposed to feel like.

Working with Clayton, learning this bike, figuring out what it wants and trying to make it better every time it goes down the track has been simply… FUN.

And somehow, we ended up first round against Flyin Ryan on the McW-built Buell. šŸ˜‚

Clayton made him earn it too.

Ryan took the win by just .010 of a second.

That’s racing.

Clayton told me something that I’ve carried with me ever since:

ā€œThe guts stayed in the motor, the bike stayed upright, you’re okay, I’m okay… and we get to go have fun another day.ā€

Hard to argue with that.

We’re learning. We’re improving. We’re smiling. And we’re getting closer.

Then there’s something Eddie from Racers For Christ said that has been stuck in my head through every job, every thrash and every pass:

EXCEED YOUR EXPECTATIONS.

So I’m putting mine out there.

Before this year is over, I expect to see a Flyin Ryan Racing final.

But getting there isn’t the end of the expectation.

We need to EXCEED it…

…and go grab ourselves a Diamond Wally. šŸ’ŽšŸ†

Until then, we keep working.
We keep learning.
And most importantly—we keep having fun doing it.

Thank you @openwheelphotos for catching a good moment

What’s one expectation you’re trying to exceed before this year is over? Drop it below. šŸ‘‡

It’s race day! šŸ And I read something this morning that had my mind goin’.

You don’t get to choose how much time you’re given. But you do get to decide what you do with it.

We don’t know how many sunrises we have left. We can’t rewind, hit pause, or skip the hard chapters.

We get now.

Sometimes you make the best choice you know how to make, and it still hurts. Sometimes you get it wrong and learn from it.

Give yourself some grace. Take responsibility. Keep moving forward.

But make sure you’re choosing a life that matters to YOU. Listen to people you trust. Consider the people who depend on you. Just don’t let the fear of disappointing somebody else make every decision for you.

You’re the one spending those hours.

Personally, I’m still figuring out what to do with mine.

Time with Danielle and our kids means more to me than I could ever explain. Being a present husband and dad is the most important job I have.

And then there’s racing.

The chaos. The long days. Putting our heads together to solve a problem, then watching a motorcycle we’ve poured ourselves into head down the track.

That fuels my soul, too.

I’m excited to finish this year STRONG with the team and see what we can do. There’s still work to do and a whole lot to look forward to.

Next year, though, I’m DEFINITELY pulling back on traveling. A race or two… maybe three. Mostly my favorite tracks, and when I do go, Danielle and the kids will be with me.

I want to share more of those moments with them while making more room for the everyday moments at home.

My kids will only be this age once. And time with Danielle deserves a place on the calendar just as much as anything else I commit to.

There will always be another job, another thing to buy, another reason to stay busy.

Money can be earned again. Things can be replaced.

Time doesn’t come back.

So be smart. Do your best. Work through the hard chapters. But don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you enjoy your life.

Today, I’m grateful to be here with this team. Let’s go racing. šŸ

What’s one thing you’re choosing to make more time for?

I asked for 45 more minutes. Racing gave me FOUR. šŸ˜‚šŸ

Alarm went off at 4:57 this morning. I told myself, ā€œAnother 45 minutes, then we’ll get up and go for a walk.ā€

About four minutes later, somebody’s trying to open the door.

It’s Flyin Ryan, ready to get to work on Malcolm’s orange bike. Meanwhile, I’ve got the door bungeed shut because the wind wouldn’t leave it alone. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

Boss man’s up. Guess we’re getting after it! šŸ”§

I’d be lying if I said it all went together nice and smooth. That bike made us work for it this morning. But we put our heads together, kept digging, and got it fired up. Boy, did it sound good! šŸ”„

Now I’m back on Clayton’s bike, Scotty’s on Ryan’s bike, and Terry’s on Malcolm’s. Everybody’s got their hands full, working toward the same goal: getting these boys ready to go down the racetrack. šŸ’Ŗ

This is the part you don’t always see. Early mornings, a few curveballs, and a crew that keeps showing up for each other.

Day TWO of NHRA qualifying here in St. Louie! Q3 and Q4 ahead. Let’s see what we can do! šŸ

Who’s here at the track, and who’s following along from home? šŸ‘‡

Before I ever cut a tube, I’ve already pictured the pass.

These three unreleased CAD images are a first look at my vision for Version 2 of the McW V-Twin Pro Stock Motorcycle platform.

This morning’s teachings from Neville Goddard brought me back to that process.

Live from the end.

To me, that means seeing the goal accomplished and bringing that version of yourself into the work you do today.

When I’m designing a chassis, I picture the finished bike. The rider tucked in. The launch. All those individual pieces working together.

Then I work backward. Think through the layout. Study how the pieces fit. Make changes. Keep refining.

The vision gives the work direction.

I’m learning that this applies to more than motorcycles.

The most important thing to me is my family. When I picture the man I want to become, I see a good husband to Danielle and a father my kids can count on.

A man who listens, keeps his word, and makes his family feel loved.

I can be that man today. Put the phone down. Be present. Give the people I love the same focus and intention I bring to something I’m building.

That’s part of living from the end, too.

The world is your mirror. I take that as a reminder to pay attention to what I bring into it. My attitude, my effort, and how I treat people matter.

And I’m learning to let go of needing every answer before I move forward.

I can trust the vision while staying open to how it comes together. I can do my part today without trying to control every outcome.

Life keeps moving, even when the whole plan isn’t clear.

I’m choosing to look at life as happening FOR me. To find something I can learn from and build on, even when the direction changes.

Version 2 starts here. A vision on a screen, with work ahead to bring it to life.

What’s a vision YOU can already see clearly, even if nobody else can see it yet? Tell me what you’re working toward. šŸ‘‡

I wonder if the kid I used to be would recognize how far we’ve come before I would.

ā€œAre you tired?ā€

Yeah, buddy. Some days.

There are responsibilities you don’t know about yet. Mistakes we’ll make. Long nights trying to figure things out, followed by early mornings when we get up and try again.

But there’s so much I wish I could show you.

We build motorcycle chassis with our own hands. We get to watch something that started as pieces of tubing go down a racetrack. Racing becomes a part of our life in ways you can’t imagine yet.

And then there’s Danielle. Ryleigh. Lincoln.

We become a husband and a dad. Being good to them, being there for them—that matters more to me than anything we’ll ever build in the shop.

I’d want you to know that.

ā€œYou made it.ā€

My first instinct would be to say, ā€œWorking on it.ā€

Because I know everything that still needs done. Every goal I haven’t reached. Every place I need to do better.

But you’d be looking at all of this for the first time.

The shop. The chassis. The family. The life.

And maybe you’d remind me that I’m allowed to appreciate what we have while I’m still working toward what comes next.

I think about that kid often. I hope I’ve held on to his curiosity. I hope he’d feel comfortable asking me a thousand questions.

And I hope I’d slow down long enough to answer every one.

If you’ve been hard on yourself lately, take a moment to look at your life through your younger self’s eyes.

What would they be proud of that you’ve been overlooking?

ā€œDon’t let your mouth overload your back.ā€

Jim Rohn said that, and the more I thought about it, the more valuable it became.

For a long time, I thought saying YES to everything was how you showed people you were hungry, dependable and willing to work.

But there’s another side to that.

Every time you say yes, you’re making a commitment with your time, energy and attention.

And all three of those have limits.

I’ve learned that being dependable isn’t about saying yes to everything.

It’s about being intentional enough to know what deserves a yes.

Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is say no to something good so you can give your best to something more important.

Your family.

Your work.

Your health.

Your goals.

The people who are already counting on you.

If your tank is constantly empty, eventually you don’t have much left to give anybody.

That also reminds me of something Tony Robbins has talked about:

We often overestimate what we can accomplish in a short period of time and underestimate what we can build over the course of a decade.

That changes the way I look at progress.

I don’t have to do everything today.

I just need to keep making good decisions, keep becoming more valuable and keep moving in the right direction.

Protect your time.

Honor your commitments.

Know when to say yes.

Know when to say no.

And build for the long game.

What’s one thing you’ve learned to protect your time from as you’ve gotten older?

Drop it below šŸ‘‡

When the numbers popped up, the whole start line knew exactly what just happened.

6.681 ET
202 MPH
1.045 to the 60’

A new personal best for Ryan and another huge step forward for the @flyinryanracingpsm program.

And one of the coolest parts of the weekend was seeing Ida Zetterström - @dragsterfia hanging out with us on the starting line, mic’d up, doing her own content, supporting the team and genuinely getting excited when Ryan’s numbers came up.

That’s what I love about this sport.

Different teams. Different programs. Different goals.

But when somebody lays down a pass like that, race people understand what it took to get there.

The reaction says everything.

We keep working.
We keep learning.
We keep pushing.

And we damn sure keep trying to exceed our own expectations.

What did YOU think when that 6.681 popped up on the board? šŸ‘‡

šŸ”„ BEING BUSY DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN YOU’RE MOVING FORWARD.

For a long time, I wore ā€œbusyā€ like a badge of honor.

Wake up.
Go straight to work.
Spend every waking hour in the shop.
Work 12, 13, sometimes 14 hours.
Go to sleep and do it all over again.

But Jim Rohn hit me with something that completely changed the way I look at time:

It’s not about the hours you put in.
It’s about what you put INTO those hours.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with grinding out a 12 or 14 hour day.

But if half of those hours are spent spinning your tires, distracted, unorganized, or just convincing yourself you’re busy…

What are those hours actually producing?

You don’t get paid simply for the hour.

You get paid for the VALUE you bring to that hour.

Two people can grow up in the same town.

Go to the same school.

Learn the same trade.

Get the same position.

Yet one person might make $25 an hour while another earns $50, $60, or $100an hour.

Why?

VALUE.

Knowledge.
Skill.
Efficiency.
Problem solving.
Experience.
Discipline.
Responsibility.
The ability to produce results.

The goal shouldn’t only be to work MORE hours.

The goal should be to become more valuable during every hour you work.

That’s something I’m working on every single day.

So here’s the question…

If you looked at your day yesterday, were you actually productive…

or were you just busy?

šŸ‘‡ Drop PRODUCTIVE or BUSY in the comments.

We don’t roll up to the starting line hoping to be the tenth qualifier.

We go up there with the goal of going NUMBER ONE.

Every. Single. Pass.

Listening to @andyfrisella on his podcast this morning got me thinking about how much this connects to racing.

Big goals require big actions, which produce big results.

Small goals require small actions, which produce small results.

I know when the @flyinryanracingpsm team shows up to that starting line, we all have the same goal. Put that motorcycle at the top of the board.

Even a year or two ago, when we were getting our butts handed to us, we still went up there with the goal of going number one.

Every single time.

The scoreboard didn’t always match the goal. But the goal gave us something to work toward. Something worth figuring out. A reason to keep learning, making changes, and showing up ready to take another shot.

And getting to be part of this team’s first number one qualifier made all those tough days mean that much more.

That’s what a big goal can do. It demands growth from you long before you ever reach it.

You might come up short today. You might come up short next weekend. But the work you put in can leave you faster, smarter, and better prepared for the next opportunity.

I think about that beyond racing, too. In the shop. In business. In the life I want to build for my family.

Am I setting a target that excites me enough to change how I show up every day?

Because the goal needs action behind it. The preparation. The discipline. The willingness to look at what went wrong and get back to work.

I’m ultra proud to be part of a team that keeps aiming for the top, even after the weekends that test us.

What’s YOUR version of going number one, and what are you doing today to get closer to it?

Andy we are coming to your town this weekend! Come out to the @nhra races!
