⚔️ THE 2026 CRUCIBLE IS HERE ⚔️

The Crucible is a weekly updating strength and performance system designed for people who want to train with intent and purpose without the guesswork and lack of structure that stalls progress and consistency.

Delivered through the TrainHeroic app, you can track your progress over time, access exercise technique videos as needed, and train with confidence knowing exactly what to do each session.

You’ll also have access to our community group to ask questions, connect, and stay engaged in the process.

The 2026 phase of The Crucible officially begins January 5th‼️

If you’re ready to commit, use the link in my bio or DM me CRUCIBLE and I’ll send you the details🫡

Welcome everyone to my new strength & performance page!

I am launching this new instagram account to focus more on my coaching services, various strength and conditioning topics, my clients hard work, valuable training education, along with much more.

My main account @mikemuls won’t be changing much at all, and will still be my primary account focusing on educational rehab/fitness based content for the general public to benefit and learn from. There will likely be some overlap between these two pages, but having this new page will allow me to have a much more organized and specific place to market my services and build a brand around for the future!

I hope you guys like the new logo. I tried to keep it simple, unique, and make it personal to myself. The symbol in the middle of the logo is a Celtic Dara knot which symbolizes strength, endurance, and resilience. The MM and QF at each side are the initials of the Mulryan family slogan, “Malo Mori Quam Foedari” or “I would rather die than be dishonored”. Pretty badass if you ask me 😎

Thank you to everyone who has helped educate and support me up until this point and I’m looking forward to continuing to help people find success in their fitness endeavors! by @mulryanstrength

Something is better than nothing.

When you’re dealing with pain, it’s easy to fixate on what you can’t do. The lift you have to skip, the weight you have to drop, the movement that used to feel smooth and effortless. But sitting in that mindset can do more damage than the actual injury itself sometimes.

The hard truth is - there ALMOST always is a way to keep training. Modify the movement (back squat for belt squat for example), incorporate new exercises/patterns, take the load off the bar or movement. Whatever it takes to keep moving forward instead of hitting pause completely.

I get that this hits different if you’re a strength athlete. When your sport is built around specific lifts, “just modify it” can feel like it’s not enough, or like it doesn’t actually help get you back to the desired exercise.

But even then, the goal should be the same. Protect your ability to keep building somewhere relevant instead of losing more ground while you wait to feel 100%.

Staying in the game, even a modified version of it, beats stepping away entirely. When training doesn’t look exactly the way you want it to - focus on what you still can do!

It’s okay to rest 1-3 days after an acute tendinopathy flare up. After this time period however, if we continue to avoid loading the pathological tendon we are going to be doing ourselves more harm than good. The key is to introduce the right amount of load at the right intensity to limit/manage symptoms and begin providing a stimulus to the tendon to adapt favorably.

The following rules are just that, rules. These aren’t guarantees that will 100% help your specific individual case. They certainly will not be superior to seeking direct care from a Doctor of Physical Therapy (such as myself🤠) who can take all of your symptoms into context and provide a structured path out of your pain.

Generally my approach to tendinopathy is as follow:

1) Introduce load isometrically or at lower intensity levels to your tolerance.

2) Explore unilateral strength and control. If there is a clear stability deficit on the pathological side this is 1000% worth exploring further

3) Are other muscle groups not showing up when they need to? Strengthening around the tendon in question can be a great way to address a tendon that has been asked to take on more than it can handle

4) Keep training pain free patterns as per usual! Do not let pain keep you from progressing elsewhere in your training

As always, any questions just reach out.

CLIENT WINS

Tim was dealing with 3+ years of shoulder blade/neck pain when performing pressing movements in the gym.

Whenever I have an athlete that has had pain for multiple years with no traumatic injury, I always ask myself: is this really a strength issue? Or is this a capacity issue?

The word capacity is loosely defined but I think it captures the essence of what makes great physical therapy, great physical therapy.

Can this athlete control the region of their body that is in pain? How about the joints nearby in the system? How can I teach them to stabilize one and mobilize another? How about in similar positions they will find themselves in during the lifts they wish to perform pain free?

This is the foundation of the lens that has helped me, help many.

Just a few weeks working with Tim and his bench technique has greatly improved and most importantly he is now overcoming 3+ years of pain. This is HUGE.

If you are dealing with pain on your lifts and have taken the road of just cutting certain exercises from your program or simply giving up on the gym altogether, let’s have a chat and see how I can help. by @mulryanstrength

Anthony crushed a new deadlift PR of 405x2 while running The Crucible this week🔥

Anthony started out deadlifting around 250lbs and has since made some tremendous progress. This was Anthony’s first time lifting over 400lbs and he crushed the 4 plate milestone not for just one but two reps just for safe measure🤯

Congrats on this big milestone dude. Proud of all your hard work and consistency‼️ by @mulryanstrength

Casual 272.5kg/601lb 28lb all time PR after hitting 573lbs for a 21lb all time PR on Saturday.

I’d say this was legit an RPE 11 rep. Might have taken a year off my life to hit this. 3 white lights tho???

In all seriousness this is a big milestone for me! Definitely was a choice to send this kind of weight after my meet Saturday, but felt like I had something special in the tank still.

Now we actually rest a tad and embrace some hypertrophy maxxing‼️ taken in Legion Gym by @mulryanstrength
