I had the opportunity to be the exhibition designer for Intelligent Kin by @berlinnewmediaweek at @mahallaberlin then as a part of @berlinartweek. Transforming the underground factory into this world of exploration, dreaming of possibilities through New Media art. Spatial curation combining the unique architecture with technology, perception, speculative futures and powerful artists voices.

Thank you @harshinijk_ and @stav__________ for your trust and for thinking of me on this adventure. I feel lucky to have my path lead to working with such dedicated, passionate, resourceful, crazy team that I really admire. The grass-roots, very international, artist-led team that dreamed and I’m proud to be a part of and what we achieved and what both of you built founding BNMW.

The elements of electro-domestic coverings, as well as the vernacular and popular elements they represent, that make up this mixed culture are seen less as the places and people are displaced. The project aims to amplify these maximalist aesthetics, creating volumes with fabrics used in mercados, street sellers in coverings, all materials bought in the areas that still make and sell these elements and materials to fabricate them, the fabric elements fabricated in collaboration in San Salvador to put together with the New Media parts put together in Berlin.

The three sculptures are abstract shapes creating a color scheme with mismatched printed fabric; from a personal standpoint, the shapes are based on the region’s flowers, fruits, and mixed traditions. They create a composition that inflates, deflates, and dims lights brighter as the shapes take up space that isn’t given to marginalized communities.

The same fabric used throughout from San Salvador covers all technology pieces as the original phenomena covers appliances flamboyantly. The materials of the piece the main being the fabrics, as well as plastics and a color palette for each piece all come together to tell a story. The installation combines everyday items while uplifting the aesthetic of excess.

Making a metaphor about Mammatus Clouds, a scientific sign that a thunderstorm is about to happen. I used this to signify the feeling before the civil war in El Salvador happened. It changed my parent’s lives through death, pain and exile, leaving the country in a fragile “post war” piece I grew up in.

This is the story of my family through their own pictures. Before and during the civil war in El Salvador. They describe these moments as a tension that kept building up with a militarized government repressing with inequality and mass arrests, excecutions and then kidnappings and bombs by the resistance. Ending in a 12 year war in my parents youth where they tried to live some type of life.

While prototyping this piece, the only monument for the peace accords was demolished with orders from the current president.

An installation art piece with a structure that fills with fog with projection mapping on it through TD. There’s a shift in the repetition of images and amount of fog in it changes the way you view the pictures, adding an extra phantasmagoric layer to a time that isn’t often talked about in Salvadoran society. A piece seen differently from different angles and times. This is a personal piece that, it involved conversations with my parents and research about the subject to treat a story that hurts, often brushed off and I wanted to handle with respect and care.

The plastic is also a small wink at Salvadoran kitschy elements that I try to bring in my work. My grandmother always had her furniture covered in transparent plastic, something very common in our culture. Everything is there but not completely within reach.

This is my first individual art piece shown in Berlin. In @manifest.io.berlin Thank you @baselnaouri and @harshinijk_ for believing in my work, this story and me. @rccrdtrrs shared his knowledge to advise me in how to make this come to life.

Thank you for all the physical and emotional support @arcdurukan @jojojordanjojo @latinx_cyborg @emilysmithberlin @antoangel17 and others. 💙

It’s been mind blowing to have so much amazing feedback of this work.

Subir, caer, recordar 🌷 is a kinetic installation weaving repurposed materials with small eerie, body-like movement creating a creature that takes inspiration from how we celebrate día de los muertos en el salvador and specific decorations made in mercados in El Salvador specifically by generations of women and connecting my personal world with it through more repurposed textures, materials and a soft color palette with the metal shine building this world held in a container. In holding different types of grief coexting with joy, color, and having different perspectives and questioning how we deal with personal and collective trauma rather than pushing for a specific way to look at it. I like making pieces that can be re-interpreted, layered, humorous, playful and open conversations as well as world building through aesthetics that deal with social contradictions or rather how they intertwine as well as rethinking the relevance we give to materials and playing with the excitement of something tangible. This piece took a lot of physical labour, including weeks of me weaving each piece and sculpting in my apartment and connected to different parts of myself while making the small movements through technology, scroll to see more of the textures, movement, color.

It was lovely to share this work exhibiting at the opening of @berlinnewmediaweek at @kudamm.space hearing people’s curiosity, perspective, what the sound created through the movement of the aluminum pieces connected to something uncomfortable but at the same time bright, how the movement made it human like, the details of how it all comes together and also how it connects to my different aesthetics and works. Thank you @harshinijk_ @threeamenergy for curating the program and for all that engaged with it. And special thank you to my lovely friends that supported me in making it come to life in the final pushes @elfedete

Last day to experience the work of Marta Torres (@multicolormarta) at @kudamm.space 👉 SEP 4/ 18:00-23:00

Subir, caer, recordar is a kinetic installation with repurposed plastic flowers, bubble wrap, and metal mesh, where grief and joy don’t oppose each other, they move together.

Drawing from Día de los Muertos traditions in San Salvador, the piece takes its form from the pleated market decorations used during times when mourning and celebration intertwine. Rising, falling, remembering the cycle that keeps us moving through loss rather than past it.

Marta Torres is a trans-disciplinary artist from El Salvador, based in Berlin. Her practice moves from personal to collective experiences, exploring memory, transformation, and the social realities embedded in everyday life. Through sculpture, installation, fashion, and found materials, she creates playful and tactile worlds where contradictions become a starting point for conversation, reflection, and questioning.

One of the things I do when I feel lost or when I want to recenter is to look at my sketchbooks. I don’t make daily notes or journal, but they do have specific ideas: something I read, references, things that have piqued my curiosity, happy moments, things that hurt me, things that challenge me, ideas, and I go back to them because my past self sometimes has answers that I’m looking for. To growth, to ways I have dealt and still dealing with pain, but I still find joy. I guess this is a little ritual even if it doesn’t have a specific timing. (Yes, I have most of them in Berlin)

I’ve always found decorations for el día de los Muertos peculiar: in their texture, in how they are made manually and the tradition has been kept for generations; bold colors and shine; how in día de los Muertos in San Salvador, mother’s day, every something, we would go to the cemetery with flowers and decorations, clean the tombstones and talk about the ones we lost. In those moments, grief is something that is acknowledged even though many other things aren’t; these decorations and having those moments with my loved ones taught me how joy and pain can coexist. In my sketchbooks along with doodles, ideas, whimsy I found various forms of grief, for those who I’ve lost in different ways, parts/versions of myself for good or bad, fears, struggles, the grief of chronic illnesses that well, are chronic, the pain of my country going bad to worse, the grief that comes from that coexistence of joy and loss with migration, instability, sometimes some are not mentioned but I remember by what I was drawing or thinking about that I went through it there, sometimes smiling at things that caused me pain that is no longer there and acknowledging that some I will still carry.

Celebration can coexist with grief. It’s a body that moves, it’s not linear; it’s layered, textured and goes on. I’ve been having these ideas in my mind for a while now and have repurposed these decorations through the years, and now I’m making a piece that brings some of this together, questioning how we view grief through something that recontextualizes these elements and can also bring joy, intrigue, and humor. 🩷 by @multicolormarta

Social media can feel exhausting. Noisy. Competitive. Algorithmic.

But it can also be something else.

It can be:
a studio
a sketchbook
a stage
a laboratory
a garden

This guide isn’t about growth hacks or going viral.

It’s about building a sustainable, creative relationship with social media; one that supports your artistic practice rather than draining it.

This 45-page guide is made from hours worth of instruction and guidance from creatives across disciplines sharing how they've built intention, developed strategies for sharing their work, purposefully confused the algorithm, all while growing an engaged following.

🎮 OPEN CALL — MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE?

Bardo Projektraum is looking for experimental videogames, playable media and computational artworks for a group exhibition in Berlin this December.

We are interested in works that explore the videogame as an artistic medium and rethink the ways technology asks for our attention: how it captures us, slows us down, interrupts us, frustrates us, immerses us or invites us to look differently.

We welcome:
experimental games, art games, browser games, interactive fiction, playable installations, DIY electronics, computational objects, alternative controllers, AR/VR, sound-based interactive works and other unconventional formats.

Political, social and critical perspectives are especially welcome.

🗓 Exhibition: approx. 3–13 December 2026
📍 Bardo Projektraum, Berlin
👾 Curated by Lucas Dima & Marta Torres

The exhibition will also include a public programme with talks, workshops, collective play sessions, performances and other participatory formats.

Please note: this is an independent, low-budget exhibition with no production or transport budget, so we are particularly interested in works that can be presented with simple, existing or artist-provided equipment.

I very rarely take photos with my camera now. But when you're with inspiring people and watching life unfold in front of you, it's kind of hard not to.

Thousands of people saw our wee MY BODY IS _AN ARCHIVE at @48stundennk 🦋 It's kind of cool to witness where folks decide to linger, what they become curious about, and what they choose to capture on their own devices to remember for later.

But the special thing about MY BODY IS_ is that it's not like a sterile group exhibition. The artists genuinely respect and care for each other. It's something I was very careful to build two years ago when we started knowing that we would have a hectic time ahead but a strong sense of support and being in it together was key. And the coolest thing, is really seeing everyone support each other.

Thanks for another adventure @glassforbrains @zlena_ @kadir_amigo_memis @geso_rgrrrb @anabarros.art
And newly joined by @multicolormarta and @_n.unn for this time 🫶

Thanks to our guardian angels @danny_m_garcia_, @mazinali and @jroderick518, for the support all the way to make this possible.
