Looking like a million bucks doesn’t have to be a thousand-dollar appointment.

This is my Plush Curls full unit without a closure that gives the same look of a flip-over sew-in, with the convenience of a removable unit.

A little leave-out. Three bundles of luxurious top quality hair. And the freedom to flip it from side to side like it grew there. 😉

A natural-looking finish starts long before I pick up the styling tools.

These are a few things I swear by when making and styling custom units:

♥️ The fit sets the foundation. How the unit sits matters just as much as how it’s styled.

♥️ Density should be intentional. More hair isn’t automatically better. I consider the shape, balance, and how the hair frames YOU.

♥️ Texture is about more than the finished picture.** If you’re leaving your own hair out, I consider what blending and maintaining it will require.

♥️ Convenience has to continue at home. I want you to know how to put your unit on, style it, and recreate the look after leaving my chair.

♥️ Your real hair remains part of the conversation. Your leave-out, scalp, and hair underneath still need care. Wearing a unit doesn’t put those needs on pause.

I make these units, wear them myself, and style them on my clients. I consider the details from all three perspectives.

Yes, I’m that girl with the units. The hair underneath is my business, too. 😉

No, but forreal, this is a U-part unit I made, blended with my own hair blown out and silk pressed. And every time I wear her, the committee opens an investigation.

“Is that all your hair?”
“Did your hair grow?”
“Wait… where’s the wig?”

I make these units AND wear them, so an easy blend matters to me just as much as it matters when I make them for clients.

She’s quick to put on, but the blend deserves a little thought.

This curly full unit gives me instant flip-over sew-in vibes, with a little of my own hair blended in the front so I can switch it from side to side.

When I make these units, I consider more than how pretty they’ll look. I think about the woman wearing them, her natural hair, and what getting ready will actually require.

And because I wear the units I make, these are things I consider for myself, too:

🎯 Match more than the color. The curl size and texture should work with the way you plan to wear your own hair.

🎯 Leave out what you need: Extra leave-out means extra styling and upkeep.

🎯 Keep caring for your hair: Your leave-out still needs gentle handling and regular care, even when the rest of the style is ready to go.

For content creation days or an impromptu pop-out, this is one of my favorites. I get the look without styling my entire head.

Listen! I love a GOOD custom unit.
I LOVE a good u-part.
I LOVE a good full unit with no closure.
And ponytails have been my jam ALL Summer.

As a professional stylist for over 2 decades I try to lead by example. Y’all know I change my hair ALOT but. I have always been transparent with hair journey. I have always shown my real hair in between the different styles.

Now, I do not subscribe to the whole “protective style” verbiage. However, I DO overstand the need for the ease that comes with convenient styles like braids, twist, weaves and wigs.

Whatever you do, DO NOT forget to check in with your REAL hair. Give your hair a break, some TLC, and get on someone’s appointment book for your fall maintenance NOW.

This is your friendly reminder and motivation. Don’t let the convenience turn into neglect. Your hair and scalp will thank you later 😘
